Topic: Firefox won't load the gallery

Hi all,
I am having a serious issue with my gallery not loading on Firefox 3.5.7,3.5.8 Window and Mac.
Loads great on Safari, IE8 and Firefox 3.6.
Firefox 3.5.7,3.5.8 Window and Mac won't load anything, not even the DIV "SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player. Get Flash."
All clients have already installed the flash player 10,0,45,2.

Question2:
I wonder why this code is used to get the swfobject.js at
http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/sw … fobject.js
instead  of using local script on the server

Question3:
For Simple viewer 2 Pro, shouldn't we use
var latestFlashVersion = 10,0,45,2;
instead of
var latestFlashVersion = 9.0.124;
And is there a good Flash autodetect that would bring the none knowledgable users to get the upgrade without suffering?

Her is my code...please help:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<!-- SIMPLEVIEWER HEAD. Paste this into the head of the HTML page-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/swfobject/2.2/swfobject.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
var params = {};
var latestFlashVersion = 9.0.124;
flashvars.galleryURL = "gallery.xml";
params.bgcolor = "FFFFFF";
params.allowfullscreen = true;
params.allowscriptaccess = "always";
swfobject.embedSWF("simpleviewer.swf", "flashContent", "600", "600", "9.0.124", false, flashvars, params,latestFlashVersion);
</script>

<!-- SIMPLEVIEWER BODY. Paste this into the body of the HTML page where you want to the gallery to appear -->
<div id="flashContent">SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player. <a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash.</a></div>

The page:
http://www.osfq.org/images/albums/boliv … livie2.htm

Thanks for any help...

Re: Firefox won't load the gallery

Ok, found the answer, that is not the best.

The code needs to be inside an iframe....and it works!

But is there another way around????

Re: Firefox won't load the gallery

Huh iframes usually break things, not the other way around...

I am having a serious issue with my gallery not loading on Firefox 3.5.7,3.5.8 Window and Mac.
Loads great on Safari, IE8 and Firefox 3.6.

By chance did you use fetch to upload the gallery? if so delete the simpleviewer.swf off the server and re-upload it with a different ftp app such as filezilla or cyberduck.

You do not have to import via google's ajax library, you can download it from SWFObject's project page and host it locally on your server.

Version 9.0.124 or higher is required you may set it to which ever version 9.0.124 or above you would like.

The page you linked is giving me a 404 not found error. If you would like me to take a look please post an updated the link.

Re: Firefox won't load the gallery

Thanks Mike for the answer.
Yes, iframe was my only solution
This page works great on Firefox now, using Iframe
http://www.osfq.org/images/albums/boliv … olivie.htm
One other issue on this one, the wmode transparent didn't work on IE8 so I had no choice but to place a background color.

It won't show up anything if I insert the code directly in the html page on Firefox 3.5.7, 3.5.8 Window and Mac. Loads great on Safari, IE8 and Firefox 3.6 wmode works.
I placed back the page
http://www.osfq.org/images/albums/boliv … livie2.htm

Thanks

Re: Firefox won't load the gallery

You have some validation errors on that page some of which may be causing the IE issues. Also the JavaScript portion of the code belongs in the head of the doc.

Try this:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

<meta name="Description" content="Une jeune famille québécoise part un an vivre l'expérience de la coopération internationale en Bolivie" />
<link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='/CSS/osfqcss.css'/>
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript" src="/scripts/osfqscript.js"></script>
