Topic: New installation failed

I bought today svmanager and installed it
After clicking on "Admin Sign In" I receive the following message (Set DEBUG to true for detailed error messages) :

Warning: require(plugins/simpleviewer/settings.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/web/animated-gifs.eu/ftp/www/svmanager/svmanager.php  on line 34

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'plugins/simpleviewer/settings.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /home/web/animated-gifs.eu/ftp/www/svmanager/svmanager.php on line 34

As in svmanager support I set :
svmanager directory to 777
svmanager/data and all contained files to 777
all other directories to 755 and included files to 644

See http://www.animated-gifs.eu/svmanager/

Re: New installation failed

I set 777 for all svmanager directories recursively and it's working
But what about security with all in 777 ???

Re: New installation failed

The error message is a little strange because at that point svManager is simple trying to read the settings file svmanager/plugins/simpleviewer/settings.php. So it shouldn't need write permission with 777.

Is it possible that the permissions on this file or one of the parent directories somehow didn't get changed when you were setting to 755/644?

And – just checking – php safe mode is OFF – yes?

Re: New installation failed

Sorry, I don't know where to find this option on my server

Re: New installation failed

Install the svManager server compatibility test and it will tell you if php safe mode is on or off.

Re: New installation failed

safe mode is ON
I read that's for security reasons
I have my own server and can change it in php.init but it's not safe
Is it possible to change safe mode only for svmanager directory, and how ?

BUT I can use svmanager as below :
1. clone of a precedent gallery (that's create only the directory)
2. ftp copy of all directories and files of an other gallery
3. rebuilt the new gallery
4. delete all images and edit, add images ...

And you can see the result, for example :
"Born to be free"
