Topic: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

I've been having a lot of trouble getting my drop-down menus to appear in IE and I've come to the conclusion it's because of Simpleviewer.

I've tried using an iframe to embed, which displays the gallery correctly, but hides the menu:

http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/test.html

So I tried the Javascript embed method, which disables the gallery and gives me the directive to install Flash (though I most definitely have it):

http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/

The Javascript error occurs in Internet Explorer AND Firefox.

Please help!

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/ is not working for me, i would try removing the www. or http://www.glitch-gallery.com/laraine/ from the following.

var fo = new SWFObject("http://www.glitch-gallery.com/laraine/portraits/simpleviewer.swf", "viewer", "1020", "480", "8", "#b29c93");

Also try removing the extra </ul> right before the two end div tags at line 81.

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

I made those changes you suggested, and my menu is now displaying properly in IE, but now I'm getting a "gallery not found" error. This is occurring in both IE and Firefox.

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

Where is the gallery.xml file for http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/? It does not appear to be in the laraine folder as http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/gallery.xml gives a 404 not found error.

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

It's located in my "portraits" folder:

http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/portraits/gallery.xml

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

Ok then you need to use xmlDataPath to point to the gallery.xml

fo.addVariable("xmlDataPath", "http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/portraits/gallery.xml");

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

That definitely helped, but now I'm seeing white X's instead of photos.  When I go to the gallery index URL, however, I can see the images.

(same URL as before for the site) http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/

(gallery index URL) http://glitch-gallery.com/laraine/portraits/

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

OK all you should have to do then is update the paths to your images in your gallery.xml and everything should work.

Re: Embed problem with Internet Explorer and menu

Hi,

I'm currently updating my website and am adding the simpleviewer to display my images. I've managed to embed this without too many issues but the problem is, the spry submenus are now displaying behind the simpleviewer and are therefore hidden.

True, I can move the simpleviewer down to display those menus, but that looks terrible. http://24hr-printer-cartridges.com/

Is there any way for me to load the sprymenu after or on top of the simpleviewer so that those submenus appear over the simpleviewer. Hopefully this doesn't cause a conflict or anything, as aside from the submenu not working, I'm really pleased with how the site is coming along.

@andrea147

Please see this FAQ: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … ml#embed_5
In order to make a SimpleViewer-Pro v1 gallery's background transparent, add the following line to your embedding code immediately before the 'fo.write' line:

fo.addParam("wmode", "transparent");
