Topic: embedded autoviewer in Joomla, but images are not shown up..

Hello guys,
i've got a similar problem with others.
i have embedded the code to an article which is:

<script src="images/flash/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<div id="flashcontent">AutoViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.  <a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash.</a></div>
<script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[
var fo = new SWFObject("images/flash/autoviewer.swf", "viewer", "800", "600", "8", "#181818");
fo.addVariable("xmlURL", "images/flash/gallery.xml");
fo.write("flashcontent");
// ]]></script>
<!-- path of autoviewer files: "images/flash/" -->

As read on other posts, i put the right paths for the files. i think the code is right. But the images are not shown up.
The flash file is being loaded, i have the right left arrows and the play button, but i am getting an "X" thing in the middle.
Ok.by that i understand that something is wrong with the photos (probably paths).
Finally i edit the paths in the xml file and is something like that:

<image>
   <url>/images/flash/images/DSC_0453.jpg</url>
   <caption>DSC_0453.jpg</caption>
   <width>800</width>
   <height>531</height>
</image>

After that, i'm still getting the "X" thing. Is something with absolute path?
I would appreciate if someone can give me some help.
Thanks in advance.

What is the URL for your gallery?

Re: embedded autoviewer in Joomla, but images are not shown up..

in SWFObject("images/flash/autoviewer.swf" ...

use the whole internet path like http://your.servername.com/images/flash/autoviewer.swf

the same in "images/flash/gallery.xml" and in gallery.xml file

Ok, but what is the URL of your site where the gallery is so I can take a look.

Re: embedded autoviewer in Joomla, but images are not shown up..

Hello and many thanks for your immediate replies.
Unfortunately haven't yet a hosting place, so i am developing it locally.
next week i will have one and then uploaded.

i have upload an image of the "X" thing from the flash file.
http://img241.imageshack.us/img241/5913/errorz.jpg

i have put full path:
(note: when i changed the path everywhere, in the first line.....<script src="images/flash/swfobject.js" .... it didn't when i updated it).

<script src="images/flash/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<div id="flashcontent">AutoViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.  <a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash.</a></div>
<script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[
var fo = new SWFObject("http://localhost/joomla_development/mindwork/images/flash/autoviewer.swf", "viewer", "800", "600", "8", "#181818");
fo.addVariable("xmlURL", "http://localhost/joomla_development/mindwork/images/flash/gallery.xml");
fo.write("flashcontent");
// ]]></script>
<!-- path of autoviewer files: "images/flash/" -->

also changed the xml file inside:
.........
<image>
   <url>http://localhost/joomla_development/mindwork/images/flash/images/DSC_0453.jpg</url>
   <caption>DSC_0453.jpg</caption>
   <width>800</width>
   <height>531</height>
</image>
.........

thanks

Re: embedded autoviewer in Joomla, but images are not shown up..

something more:

i found that in the xml file, as for the image path,
if there is a slash in front, "<url>/images/DSC_0446.jpg</url>"
then it will produce an "X" thing.
so. i correct the xml.

then i've tried this code in the article (copied from the index.html autoviewer produced):

<script src="images/flash/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<!--     /* hide from ie on mac \*/     html {         height: 100%;         overflow: hidden;     }     #flashcontent {         height: 100%;     }     /* end hide */     body {         height: 100%;         margin: 0;         padding: 0;         background-color: #181818;         color:#ffffff;         font-family:sans-serif;         font-size:40;     }     a {         color:#cccccc;     } -->
<div id="flashcontent">AutoViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player. <a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash here.</a></div>
<script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[
        var fo = new SWFObject("images/flash/autoviewer.swf", "autoviewer", "800", "600", "8", "#181818");

        //Optional Configuration
        //fo.addVariable("langOpenImage", "Open Image in New Window");
        //fo.addVariable("langAbout", "About");
        //fo.addVariable("xmlURL", "images/flash/gallery.xml");

        fo.write("flashcontent");
// ]]></script>

now the result, is no "X" thing but still no images displayed.

waiting for localhost (trying to load the images?)
and then times out..

ps. sorry for the photos thing, i know this is not the proper way to ask someone for help.
the best is to have the whole site online, so you can see it.
i'll post then again, when i have it online.

thanks

Re: embedded autoviewer in Joomla, but images are not shown up..

If you are getting Xs where the images should be the swf is loading the gallery.xml, but not being able to load the images based on the paths in the gallery.xml. So you basically need to adjust the paths to the images, if you are having trouble with relative paths you could try absolute paths. Don't forget to clear your browser's cache after making the change.
