Topic: Caption under main image?

I have searched and searched but can't find an answer. I'm running SVpro with svmanager. I want to have the caption appear under the main image. Numerous posts reference changing the options.as file, but my version of PRO says all configuration is done within gallery.xml. With that said..

I've tried implementing the caption options from this link: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … ml#caption

When I set  captionPosition = "TOP", the caption appears overlaid on the images.
Whe I set  captionPosition = "BOTTOM" the caption appears under the thumbnails.

I just want it under the main image. What am I missing?

Re: Caption under main image?

By default, if you have the thumbs under the main image, then the captions will show under the thumbs.

You can put the caption above the thumbs by using the fixed-layout options: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … html#fixed

Re: Caption under main image?

Thanks Felix, that pointed me in the right direction. What I decided to do, for anyone else looking to do this, was set the following, which shows the caption in an overlay box at the bottom of the image, and it works great and looks elegant.

captionPosition = "OVERLAY_BOTTOM"
showOverlay = "ALWAYS"

Re: Caption under main image?

I am having a problem with this. I setup my config as follows:

imageHAlign="RIGHT"
imageVAlign="TOP"
captionWidth="800"
captionTextAlignment="RIGHT"
captionPadding="5"
useFixedLayout="TRUE"
imageAreaX="0"
imageAreaY="0"
imageAreaWidth="800"
imageAreaHeight="550"
captionX="0"
captionY="570"
thumbAreaY="590"

There is no way for me to get the caption under the images. Even if i set the CaptionY to 650 it will never go below the actual image bottom, it stays as an overly on the image. According to my calculations, with the above settings, the image should appear at the right, then the caption then the thumbs.

So I really need help!!

Also, is there any chance we can just make this a config feature. It is such a waste of time to have to manually reset everything when its 99% there... Especially since if its a config feature it will be waaay easier to resize or dynamically size...

captionPosition  could just have these options added

IMAGE_BOTTOM
IMAGE_TOP

and these would place them immediately before or after the main image and for the thumbnails, it would still go off of TOP or BOTTOM as absolutes on the entire canvas....

What do you think?

Are you sure? I just tried the options you posted above and the caption is between the main image and the thumbnails. Possibly you need to clear your browser cache?

Hi Felix,

I am working up a website including SimpleViewer galleries, and purchased SVPro 2.1 for that matter.
However, I precisely need my galleries to be both dynamically resizable and have the caption below the image, and then the thumbs below the caption.

SV 1.9 allowed for such a configuration using "captionUnderThumb" parameter, but this seems to no longer work in 2.x...
Would it be possible to re-implement this feature in next version 2.x ?

It seems to me that it's not so complicated to implement since thumbs and captions are just stacking in the bottom stack... Am I wrong ?
