Topic: FF good IE doesn't work

I am trying to embed simpleviewer in to a page that is in a different folder than the gallery.  It displays just peachy in FireFox, but it says "Gallery XML Not Found" in Internet Explorer.  Please Help!  I'm losing my mind over here...

This is in the Head

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
    <title>Untitled</title>
    <link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
        function load_content () {
            if (parent.document.getElementById('main_div')) {
                parent.document.getElementById('main_div').innerHTML=document.getElementById('inner_frame').innerHTML;
            }
            if (!parent.document.getElementById('main_div')) {
            window.location=('index.html') ;
            }
        }
    </script>

            <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/swfobject/2.2/swfobject.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            var flashvars = {};
            flashvars.baseURL="comgallery/";
            flashvars.galleryURL = "compact.xml";
            var params = {};
            params.allowfullscreen = true;
            params.allowscriptaccess = "always";
            params.bgcolor = "713f10";
            swfobject.embedSWF("comgallery/simpleviewer.swf", "flashContent", "410", "450", "9.0.124", false, flashvars, params);
        </script>

        <style type="text/css" media="screen">
            html, body    { height:100%; }
            body {
                margin:0;
                padding:0;
                overflow:auto;
                background-color: #DDD;
                color:#333;
                font-family:sans-serif;
                font-size:16px;
            }
            a {
                color:#ff0000;
            }
        </style>
</head>

I'm working with iframes, I think that may be what is killing it, but I don't know why.

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

I should also note that I tried moving everything to the same directory and it is still broken in Internet Explorer

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

What is the URL of the page that your are having issues with?

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

Ok, I have moved the folder.  It is at www.Shoptechies.com/aspenhollow

I check with the W3 Validator and it passed. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http% … nhollow%2F

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

Two issues to start with you are using iframes and iframe_0 does not validate.

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

The part not validating has been removed.  It is still not showing the gallery in Internet Explorer, but it does work great in Firefox.

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

Either get rid of the iframe and embed simpleviewer directly into your page or remove the following piece of iframe_0 so I can see how the page is loading.

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
        function load_content () {
            if (parent.document.getElementById('main_div')) {
                parent.document.getElementById('main_div').innerHTML=document.getElementById('inner_frame').innerHTML;
            }
            if (!parent.document.getElementById('main_div')) {
            window.location=('index.html') ;
            }
        }
    </script>

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

http://www.shoptechies.com/aspenhollow/iframe_0.html I commented that part out and it looks like it loads correctly without that script, but I really need to be able to keep it in iframes.

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

SimpleViewer is embedded correctly and working just fine in IE when viewing http://www.shoptechies.com/aspenhollow/iframe_0.html so it must be something in your site code. If you want to use iframes that is up to you, but you don't need them in order to keep functionality, any thing you can do with iframes you can do better another way.

Re: FF good IE doesn't work

Unfortunately it is a template that the client really, really wants and it uses iframes.
