Topic: Google TOS

Just had a read through the google TOS.

5.3 You agree not to access (or attempt to access) any of the Services by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Google, unless you have been specifically allowed to do so in a separate agreement with Google.

What I really don't want, is to loose access to all my google stuff. To me, accessing picassa through these viewers is in breach of this. Unless of cause the authors have permission from google, or do I need to go ask google to be able to use this? Anybody like to clear this up for me?

Re: Google TOS

The Picasa template/plug-in allows you to create a xml gallery hosted on your own server from your dektop Picasa software. This use does not violate their TOS as to setting up the gallery to pull images from Picasa Web Albums I have no idea. I would contact google and ask them what they think.

Both the Picasa plug-in and the directions for pulling images from the Picasa Web Albums are provided by at they also may be able to answer your question.

Re: Google TOS

Thanks Mike, I'll ask Google. Just a note that I followed the links from the site and the first (most obvious route) was to set up this way. Agreed, setting up the xml gallery doesn't violate the TOS but makes it more difficult to maintain a 'live' gallery updated by multiple users.

Been reading the Flickr (yahoo) tos which also includes something similar

You agree not to access the Yahoo! Services by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Yahoo! for use in accessing the Yahoo! Services.

Even more confusing, Here seems to indicate that creating/using other software to access this service is OK.
