Topic: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Im trying the Simple Viewer in order to buy it. But it seems like its not easy to use as it looks.

1. I opened the sv Builder.

2. I made the photo gallery.

3. Publish:

Gallery Folder, can I save it on any Folder?

What is Page Index Name? What is this for?

I clicked: Save

I copied the code and I pasted it into Dreamweaver and nothing worked on my website.

This is how my website looks right now,

Im using the Me Gallery in an iframe. As you can see we do things quite simple. I hope we can use simple viewer pro, as soon as we can use this trial version.

thank you!

Gallery Folder, can I save it on any Folder?

Yes. You can save the gallery folder anywhere you like.

What is Page Index Name? What is this for?

The index page is the page that you direct your browser to in order to view the gallery. You can name the index page anything you like (but best to keep to alphanumeric characters (a-z, 0-9) and keep the .html or .htm file extension).

Im using the Me Gallery in an iframe.

If using an iframe, then you don't need to cut and paste code into other pages.
You can upload the complete Gallery Folder and then load the Index Page into the iframe like this:

<iframe src="gallery_folder/index_page.html" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe>

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Thanks for your help.

1. I saved the gallery file in a Folder called "viewer" located where we upload all our website .html files.

2. I published and saved the gallery under the name of pg541.html

3. Then in our html page I added what you said

<iframe src="viewer/pg541.html" width="700" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe>

4. I can see the gallery and it looks great in the Dreamweaver. I uploaded the html file, all the viewer folder.

5. I have a problem, I created 3 different galleries with their own iframe, but these 3galleries show the same gallery. I double checked the i frame route and they are correct...

What can I do?

Thank you!

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

It looks like you've created 3 different galleries and saved them all in the same folder.
Each time you create a new gallery, even though you give each gallery a different index page name, all the other gallery files (including gallery.xml which determines which images are displayed) are overwritten.
You need to save each gallery in a separate folder.

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Thanks,

I have been saving the galleries in a folder called "viewer" here are many other folder such as:

notes
images
svcore
thumbs

What is the best route and place to save each galleries for the next galleries?

Do I have to create new folders for each gallery? in which of all these folders?

Thanks for your help!

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Save each gallery in a different folder (named, for example, gallery1, gallery2 and gallery3).
Each gallery folder will contain the following:
index.html (file)
gallery.xml (file)
svcore (folder)
thumbs (folder)
images (folder)

If your gallery folders are in the same directory as your main html page (which contains the iframe), then you'd load gallery2 into the iframe using the code:

<iframe src="gallery2/index.html" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe>

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Hello

It looks like all the instructions you gave to me are working. smile

Now you can see in one of my galleries a clean gallery without scrolldown bar on the right side.

http://www.bajasmart.com/541photossimple.html

<iframe src="viewer/v541.html" width="650" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe>

The last gallery I made has a scroll down bar on the right side.

http://www.bajasmart.com/cwoolvertonphotossimple.html

<iframe src="viewer/cwoolverton/c46.html" width="650" height="500" frameborder="0"></iframe>

What features do I have to change in order to see the gallry without scroll down bar?

Thank you!

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Try adding the attribute scrolling="no" to the iframe tag, eg:

<iframe src="mygalleryfolder/index.html" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Steven,

Thank you so much for your help, all of your answers are solutions. smile

No more problems publising, no more overwritting files.

No more scroll bars.

I uploaded all the galleries to our website and ot looks like this is going to be my last question.

1. You go to our photo gallery.

http://www.bajasmart.com/541photos.html

2. Go mouse over "Discover Baja Sur" or "Owning in Baja Sur"

Im using Dreamweaver for this HTML website.

3. This is how it looks when we use the me gallery. Go mouse over "Discover Baja Sur" or "Owning in Baja Sur"

http://www.bajasmart.com/photohallery.html

4. Is there an instruction to make the simple viewer iframe behind our menu?

Thank you!

We all appreciate your help,

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

The iframe is behind the menu when viewed in Firefox; just not in IE, Safari or Chrome.
The W3C Validator reveals several errors on your HTML page.
I'd start by fixing these errors and you may find that the menu then functions as expected.

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Hello Steven.

I changed the HTML erros as suggested, but I cant see the spry menu. Its funny because even with those errors the iframe for the me gallery works correcly. Do mouse over in Discover Baja Sur or Owning.

http://www.bajasmart.com/photohallery.html

By the other hand the problem remains using an iframe with simple viewer  sad

Is there any other way to publish my gallery?

thanks you! smile

Re: How to publish a gallery in my website?

Your 541photos.html page (the gallery using SimpleViewer) still contains several errors.
The first one I'd tackle is to add a DOCTYPE declaration.
Replace your <html> tag at the beginning with the following code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en">

Tests I've carried out in Google Chrome suggest that this might be all that is needed for the drop-down menus to be displayed in full.
