Topic: Creating a photo gallery...

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to create a photo gallery that sits within an existing page and allows the user to scroll through the images (without opening a new page)?  I want users to see a list of links for different photo galleries along the top of the page and to select another gallery without having to exit a page and go to a new one.

Thanks!

Re: Creating a photo gallery...

Take a look at the 'View Vertical Resizable Gallery with Header Example' here:

Otherwise, you could create an HTML page with a menu of gallery links and an iframe and target the iframe with the links so that the galleries load into the iframe and the main HTML page with the links remains.

Re: Creating a photo gallery...

Thanks.  I went with option 1.  This gets the box on the HTML page, but the I think the path to the folder is not correct (I get the "Gallery XML Not Found" message).  My "<page>.html", the "gallery.xml", and the folder "images/" are all located in the same folder named "photography_site/", and I'm putting "baseURL=photography_site/" alongside the flashVars parameter.  I also tried putting "baseURL=images/" alongside flashVars parameter and I get the same gallery not found message.  Any thoughts?  I'm still working locally, so I don't have the site up and running yet.

Use 'galleryURL' (http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … .html#html) to define the path to your gallery.xml file.

Re: Creating a photo gallery...

Thanks!  That worked perfectly.  Now I need to get the size formatting to fit my needs.

One other quick question: for thumbnail navigation, is there a way to do any of the follow:

1.) Change the horizontal distance between the each thumbnail.
2.) Change the position of the numbers within the numeric thumbnail navigation section (it's currently on the left...could this be positioned to the right?)
3.) Change the caption so that it's placed just underneath the photo as opposed to inside with the rollover option.

I'm assuming these may be beyond the programming embedded within the simple viewer, and that I may need to purchase a version of Adobe Flash to get this level of customization.

Re: Creating a photo gallery...

(1) Use thumbPadding http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … tml#thumbs
(3) Use captionPosition http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … ml#caption

Both options can be found in svBuilder_Pro (under Thumbnails and Captions sections respectively) or you can add these options to the XML file manually.

(2) Not sure what numbers you are referring to. If it is the "3/14" image numbers (ie image number/total images) then this is already justified to the right.  If this is not what you are referring to, perhaps you'll find what you are looking for in the Pro Options http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … tions.html

SimpleViewer v2.1 Pro does not come with source code so, even if you had Adobe Flash, you would not have any code to modify/customize.  All options are set via variables in the XML file and flashvars in the HTML embedding code.
