Topic: New to autoviewer

hey everyone i just got autoviewer pro and im working in dreamweaver cs3.  I used picasa to create the gallery and i put it into dreamweaver and when i preview the page in dreamweaver i just get the download flash hyperlink and that it needs javascript.  Now im not sure if i have to have my website published to a server for this to work? im just in need of some help!

Re: New to autoviewer

Does it work if you view it locally in a browser or on a server?

Re: New to autoviewer

i dont have a server currently at the moment because im still in the process of designing the website so im just try to preview it the brower and it never seems to work. do i need to have it uploaded to a server?

Re: New to autoviewer

It should be viewable locally, I was just trying to understand if you were viewing it in a browser or just in Dreamweaver. Did you follow the embedding instructions and do you have the swfobject.js file in the in the folder with your gallery page?

Re: New to autoviewer

the folder that picasa made i moved into the folder with website that im creating in dreamweaver and i left the folder in the main folder, so no sub directories or any other folders.

Re: New to autoviewer

also if i drag the viewer.swf into firefox or another web brower the slideshow will play, so it obviously has something to do with the dreamweaver part

Re: New to autoviewer

Please post the URL of your page that is having the issue or the HTML code, so we can take a look.

Re: New to autoviewer

Re: New to autoviewer

Re: New to autoviewer

im just messing around with stuff right now and also i can seem to find the /web folder to get the autoviewer.swf for picasa

Re: New to autoviewer

Your code:
</head>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/path/to/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/path/to/lib/jquery.jcarousel.min.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/path/to/skin/skin.css" />

<body onload="MM_preloadImages('assets/homee2.png','assets/Storee1.png','assets/blogg2.png','assets/team2.png','assets/contact2.png','assets/team1.png')">

You need to move the above scripts and link to be inside the head of your document, so that they come before </head>.

Re: New to autoviewer

alright i swtiched that around and it still says loading. and it isnt centered or anything.. i guess my main concern is getting it to work before having it aligned properly

Re: New to autoviewer

Re: New to autoviewer

could you please check it out now. i updated what you said to do

Re: New to autoviewer

You didn't copy my last post exactly, so you still have some HTML errors that may be effecting this like an extra </div>.

What application did you use to upload the swf?

Re: New to autoviewer

i used go daddys ftp user to upload the files to the server and i am using flash cs3 to re export the file to the pro version.

and i just copied exactly what you posted into dreamweaver and then re uploaded and it didnt work..so i wonder if it has something to with the coding or something because the other day i got the trial version to work.  I am using picasa to make the slideshow and i did update the plug in with the pro .swf but i had to rename it from viewer to autoviewer? is that correct?

Re: New to autoviewer

If you had it working with the free version and you made changes to the Pro swf that is probably where your issue is. If you delete the swf on your server and upload the swf in the web directory that came in the pro download does it work? Don't forget to clear you browser's cache after uploading the swf. You also might want to try using a FTP application like filezilla as some methods use to upload the swfs can corrupt them.

Re: New to autoviewer

alright i think i found out where the problem is coming in.  When i make the gallery in picasa and then i upload that version to my server it works perfectly. but its the free version.  So then i copy and replace the .swf from my pro folder to the gallery folder that i made is that correct? because when i do that and then reupload the gallery just sits on loading

im following the directions at this webpage http://www.simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/ … ort/#using

Re: New to autoviewer

What changes are you making? If you upload the the swf in the autoviewer_pro\web folder it works right?

Re: New to autoviewer

i dont have a web folder. however i have a deliver folder? which i think is the same thing?

Re: New to autoviewer

however i have a deliver folder?

This sounds like you are using an older version of AutoViewer Pro.
Try renaming your xml file from 'gallery.xml' to 'gallerydata.xml'.

Re: New to autoviewer

hey everyone i just got autoviewer pro and im working in dreamweaver cs3...

i dont have a web folder. however i have a deliver folder? which i think is the same thing?

You just purchased and downloaded AutoViewer Pro recently correct? The autoviewer_pro.zip should unpack to a folder containing an examples, source and web folders plus a readme.html.

Re: New to autoviewer

when i said i just got it. i ment like i just started using it, sorry.  Im not sure if it will make that big of a difference?

Re: New to autoviewer

Yes, it could if you are using an older version, there were a bunch of changes in version 1.4. Check the readme file in the download to see which version you are using or use the download link that came in your purchase email to download the latest version.

Re: New to autoviewer

i tried to get back into my email that account that the file was sent to and i cant seem to get into it. so i might just have to re purchase i guess. if thats going to make the difference
