Topic: svBuilder Pro looses colour profiles during resize

In svBuilder Pro, when the "Resize Images" option is checked, colour profiles contained in imported images are lost in the resized images of the published gallery. No colour conversion is applied either. This means that the colours in gallery images are poor (for example, they are dulled if the original profile was AdobeRGB). Manually assigning the original profile to the resized images fixes the problem, but is not very user-friendly.

Colour profiles are not the only metadata that is lost: all image annotations (XMP, IPTC, etc.) also disappear. For example, embedded copyright information is lost in gallery images.

Without the "Resize Images" option checked, profiles and other metadata are kept in the gallery's images. Most likely, original images are left untouched in this case.

Is there a way to fix this myself, or is it something that could be fixed in svBuilder Pro?

Cheers.

Re: svBuilder Pro looses colour profiles during resize

svBuilder-Pro strips metadata when resizing images.
As you have discovered, the alternative is to deselect 'Resize Images' (on the 'Images') page and have svBuilder-Pro copy the original images across into the gallery folder untouched.

Well, this is not exactly a solution, just a workaroud. The thing is that there is a bug in Simpleviewer. It should not remove metadata when resizing images and specially it should not remove colour profiles.

Also, if you deselect "Resize images" and the image is bigger then the scaling is made by Flash engine and it is not smooth.

Yes, my suggestion is a workaround rather than a solution but, being that this is the way that svBuilder currently functions, you could always resize your images in a different imaging program (such as Adobe Photoshop) before feeding them to svBuilder.

With regard to Adobe Flash Player resizing images dynamically, SimpleViewer-Pro has an imageSmoothing configuration option (in svBuilder-Pro's 'Customize -> Main Image' section) which you might like to try changing.

Please feel free to post feedback and suggestions for future versions in the Feature Requests forum thread.
This keeps all the ideas together and ensures that they are not overlooked by the developers.
Thank you.
