Topic: Problem with mobile display

Am still testing simpleviewer plugin for my website, having sorted out a previous problem. Whilst everything works fine on main browser safari & firefox, when the same pages are called up on a mobile browser the images do not display and the text gallery xml not found is shown. Having reset and reloaded everything can find out the reason. Can anyone help with an explanation? Also when the flash box is unchecked no images show up anywhere on any browser.  Thanks. Desperately wanting to upgrade to pro but need to sort these issues out first.

Re: Problem with mobile display

Have you had any success with this problem? Have today checked the page http://www.one-image.biz/wordpress/test on an Ipad and got the same result - xml gallery cannot be found and nothing is displayed by simpleviewer. The rest of the page is fine.  Thanks
D

Re: Problem with mobile display

Try going to http://one-image.biz/wordpress/test (without the 'www' subdomain) and you should find that the gallery works on your iPad.
The galleryURL in your page is defined as:

flashvars4.galleryURL = "http://one-image.biz/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/4.xml";

Re: Problem with mobile display

As Steven mentions, this looks like a subdomain security issue. Note that "www.example.com" and "example.com" are considered 2 different subdomains as far as browser security goes.

I think what is happening here is that the WP-SimpleViewer plugin uses the WordPress URL to generate the gallery URLs. If the specified Wordpress URL subdomain is different than the subdomain used to view the gallery, XML and image files may not be served. Specify your WordPress URL here: WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> General -> WordPress address (URL)

This issue may also be fixable via htaccess, or some other WordPress setting. Any WordPress experts want to chime in?

Re: Problem with mobile display

Thanks for this, however have just tried the url without the www and it still not working. I do get the thumbnails but where the main image should be there is a small black square with a white outline and when this is tapped the gallery xml not found appears. This is on an ipad and also on mobiles where sometimes the black box is offset to the right.

Re: Problem with mobile display

In the mobile version, the main image and the thumbnails are not displayed on the same page.
By default, the initial page displays the thumbnails, from which the user can select an image to view.
On the 'main image' page, there will be a 'Thumbnails' button in the top right corner to allow the user to go back to the thumbnails page.
The 'small black square with a white outline' that you describe is the 'Fullscreen' button.
The issue of receiving a 'Gallery XML Not Found' message when you click it is due to a known bug (caused by an absolute rather than a relative galleryURL being used) which should be fixed in the next version.
