Topic: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

I just purchased the SimpleViewer and customized the options etc, now I need to install it.  How do I it?

Here's some information:

1. The viewer is going on the main page of the site, so how I'd idealy like to have it set up is to install the viewer somewhere on my ftp and place the actual gallery/viewer withing the body of the page, and not just replace the index.html file.

2. I'm using a wordpress.

Is there any other information that I need to provide you to make this work?

If you have any tips, or answers please direct them to: oliver.s.smith@gmail.com

Thanks for your time.

Re: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

If using WordPress, you could use the WP-SimpleViewer WordPress Plugin to create a gallery (using the WordPress Dashboard) directly into a post.
Otherwise, you could create a gallery using svBuilder-Pro, upload the entire gallery folder somewhere using an FTP program and embed the gallery into a post by using one of these 2 embedding methods.
Perhaps the easiest method would be to use an <iframe>.  Add a new post, select 'HTML' rather than 'Visual' as the input method and insert the following code (ensuring that the 'src' attribute points to your own gallery's HTML index page).

<iframe src="http://www.example.com/gallery/index.html" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Re: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

I'm speaking specifically about Pro.

1. Where should I save the photos? They're being uploaded from my hard drive.

2. Where should the gallery be saved if it's part of a page?

Thanks for your time, I really appreciate it.

Here's what it will look like:

Re: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

As I suggested previously, you have 2 options:
(1) Use WP-SimpleViewer WordPress Plugin. (See the instructions here to upgrade the plugin to Pro.)
(2) Create a gallery (perhaps with svBuilder-Pro), upload it (the entire gallery folder, not just the images) and embed it in a post.

If using method (1), then your images should be uploaded by following the Adding Images From WordPress Media Library instructions.
(If the images already exist in your Media Library, then attach them to the post containing the gallery and 'Update' the post.)

If using method (2), then you should upload the entire gallery folder (the thumbnails, images, XML file and 'svcore' folder) to your web server.  Being that the gallery is likely to be self-contained in a single folder (which it will be if you created the gallery with svBuilder-Pro), you could upload the gallery folder to the root of your web structure.  That way, it will not get lost in amongst the WordPress files.
Then, add a new post and in the body of the post, use the <iframe> code I posted above.

Re: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

Seeing as you have a working gallery at http://seniorcrowell.com/index.html, you could simply create a new post in WordPress and use the following code in the body of the post:

<iframe src="http://seniorcrowell.com/index.html" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

... making sure to select 'HTML' rather than 'Visual' as the input method.

Re: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

Ok so I got everything to work, thank you, but i do have one more additional question.

Instead of creating pages and embedding the viewer, i decided to create one main page with links to each viewer. The reason why I did this was because the photo's were to big to fit inside a post or page. The theme's body or container is a little narrow, and I'm trying to avoid editing the theme's width.

The only caveat is that now in order to get to the viewer you have to navigate away from the actual site, and the only way back is to use the back button, so what I wanted to know is, is there a way to put html in the actual viewer? Like can i put a link back to the home page in the captions or the title?

Thanks again.

Re: I cannot install Simple Viewer on my page

Yes, you can add HTML formatting to both your captions and the title text to include hyperlinks.
See the following links for details:
