Topic: Problem with Firefox 4 and special german "Umlaut"-domain

Hi,

at the domain www.thoeming-hoya.de we have implemented several galleries. All work well with all browers.

When we use firefox 4 (no problems with any other browser)
with a special german "umlaut"-domain things went complicated %-(

The one here works well: http://thöming.de/images/aktuelles/gale … index.html
This one doesn't: http://thöming-hoya.de/images/aktuelles … index.html("Gallery XML Not Found")

Any idea?

Clemens

Firefox on Windows does not fully support International Domain Name with special characters for security reasons.

Yeah it looks like they removed the post about it... I am trying to find more info, but I haven't found any yet.

Re: Problem with Firefox 4 and special german "Umlaut"-domain

It might be worthwhile trying to define the 'galleryURL' via an absolute path with the 'ö' character encoded.
Try changing the line:

flashvars.galleryURL = "gallery.xml";

... to:

flashvars.galleryURL = "http://th%F6ming-hoya.de/images/aktuelles/galerie003/gallery.xml";

It might not work but you have nothing to lose by trying...

Re: Problem with Firefox 4 and special german "Umlaut"-domain

tried... and something changed... every browser now showed "gallery xml not found" ;-)

I changed the path to the index.html instead to a normal domain they have. Ok, that is not a solution... but it works.

Thanx again for your effort, I appreciate it really!
