Topic: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

Why if I insert an sv gallery on a website disables the pinch zoom on iphone and ipad?

Kind of sets fixed zoom of the website.

I need my website to still be zoomable...

Try visiting this on an ipad/ipod touch/iphone: www.sebas12.com/svtest

Is it supposed to be like this or is there a setting that i can disable???

Thanx

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

I am using Simple Viewer 2.3.0 and am having the same problem. I cannot pinch zoom the image on the iPhone as is typical for a web page. I've run all the examples on the SV web site. They don't pinch zoom either. My gallery is a simple HTML embed (no frames). Here is an URL to test with: http://www.jasonwinshell.com/content/ga … index.html

    <!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    simpleviewer.ready(function () {
    simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "FFFFFF", true);
    });
    </script>
    <div id="sv-container"></div>
    <!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

@Jason Winshell

Pinch zooming is disabled by design for galleries with dimensions of 100% x 100%.
You should be able to pinch zoom on this sample embedded gallery.
Rather than setting your gallery's dimensions to 100% x 100%, you could try using absolute pixel values, using JavaScript to determine the user's browser window dimensions.

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

Yes, I see that that example works. I get the 100% scaled issue  — leave a portion of the mobile browser window uncovered by the mobile player.  But here's what I find problematic.

Users expect to be able to perform zooming gestures by placing their fingers within the image. In the example you pointed me at (thanks), zooming only works in the space outside the viewer. It doesn't seem reasonable to have a mobile UI deviate from how users would expect to interact with a web page (or image within an app).

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

It is actually possible to pinch zoom within the gallery I linked to but it seems to be rather temperamental and only works sometimes. I will log a bug report. Thank you for reporting.

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

A massive problem with insert an sv gallery on a website, something disables the pinch zoom on iphone, ipad and other mobile devices
The gallery post to iweb snippet into iframe doesn't pinch zoom in and zoom out as  expected to work by anybody who's checking the gallery on mobile devices. Intuitive gesture is one of the most important futures of the web gallery. most of the people checking sites on iphones, ipads and other mobile devices and expect intuitive browsing through picture as well. How to sort it out?

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

@User79

Pinch-zooming can interfere with the gallery's own slide gestures and touch navigation controls.
I am able to pinch-zoom in this sample embedded gallery but not consistently and it seems much easier to do on the thumbnail page than when the gallery is displaying a main image.
As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread, I have logged a bug report so hopefully this will be addressed in a future version.

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

Hi steven, thanks for the reply.
So when can we expect the future version with pinch in and out or proper gesture navigation? Any good news?

Re: iPhone pinch zoom disabled

Unfortunately, as of yet, I have no further information on this topic and I do not know when it will be fixed (or even if it can be fixed). However, I have notified the developers of this issue so they are aware of it.
