Topic: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

Hi,

I have managed to install SV in a Google Sites page via an iframe - but it's not ideal. www.charissegardiner.com

I would prefer to embed SV directly into the site. However, there are some complications:
1) Google Sites doesn't allow js directly in the page html but it can be done via xml based Google "Gadgets".
2) GS doesn't appear to allow the uploading of stacked folders so it creates a complication with URL paths.

Some guys have managed to embed AutoViewer and TiltViewer into GS, but it appears SV is a little more complicated (or is it?)

AutoViewer embed: http://sites.google.com/site/annuairevi … wer-gadget

I would gladly purchase the PRO version if this can be done.

Thanks,
Creighton.

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

Wondering whether anyone is looking into this or is it being ignored?

Thanks,
Creighton.

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

In order for SimpleViewer to support Universal Playback (for mobile devices and browsers that do not have Adobe Flash Player installed) it requires several files (the 'svcore' folder) to be uploaded.
The 'svcore' folder contains many files (in nested subfolders), some of which are JavaScript files.
If Google Sites does not allow JavaScript files or a folder structure to be uploaded, then SimpleViewer will not be able to be integrated into a Google Sites site with its full functionality.

However, you could use the SWF file from the 'svcore' folder ('svcore/swf/simpleviewer.swf') and embed this in your site in a similar fashion to the AutoViewer example you posted (although you would lose the HTML fallback for non-Flash enabled devices).

Otherwise, the solution may be the best option.

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

Ok thanks Steven.

Is there another way of setting the background of SV to transparent other than through the html embed code? I see several background input (in the xml file for example), but they appear to have little effect. If we purchase the PRO version, could this be done by editing the original .fla file?

Cheers,
Creighton.

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

You can set the background to transparent only through the HTML embed code: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … ml#embed_6
The Flash param 'wmode' has to be set to 'transparent'.
This can be achieved by setting the background color Embed Code Parameter to 'transparent' as in:

SV.simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true);

... or by setting the param directly in the embedding code (which is what the above shortcut effectively does):

var params={};
params.wmode="transparent";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
    simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '222222', true, null, params);
});

If we purchase the PRO version, could this be done by editing the original .fla file?

No. SimpleViewer does not come with source code so this cannot be done.

In order to have the gallery's background transparent in an viewed in IE, you will need to add the attribute allowtransparency="true" to your tag.

No. SimpleViewer does not come with source code so this cannot be done.

Oh! So does that mean we won't be able to modify the caption's font either?

This is very important to us as many of our clients are arty types who spend hours debating font selection. yikes

My understanding is that this can only be done by changing the embedded font in the .fla file.

Please explain.  roll

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

You can use custom fonts in the caption by using HTML tags.

Big times text

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

Thanks Mike.

I meant altering the caption font from a Flikr feed - but then I did a bit of searching and found all the info in the Pro FAQs. You guys have really thought this through. Awesome.

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

Is the page being loaded into your on a different domain to the HTML page containing the ?
If so, this is currently an issue which is being looked into. Please see this forum post for details: http://www.simpleviewer.net/forum/viewt … p?id=14980
If you like, I can try viewing your gallery on my iPod Touch iOS 5.0.1.
Please post the URL to your gallery so that we can take a look.

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

this is the main domain: (@ http://www.names.co.uk)
www.artemikyriacou.co.uk

this is where the website is hosted by googlesites:
sites.google.com/site/artemikyriacou/home

this is where the iframe contents are (the SV gallery) (hosted @ http://www.names.co.uk)
hugh.gustoimages.com/foodv2

any help appreciated

Re: Embedding SimpleViewer into Google Sites

Thank you for posting the URL to your gallery.
Your gallery displays fine in all browsers on my PC (in both Flash Player and Mobile Player versions) but not on my iPod Touch iOS 5.0.1.
This is the problem documented in this forum: http://www.simpleviewer.net/forum/viewt … p?id=14980
On mobile devices, a SimpleViewer gallery will not be displayed in an if the gallery is hosted on a different domain to the HTML page containing the code.
It is a known problem and the developers are looking into it.
