Topic: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

Hello all,

I am having no success in inserting my Porta generated gallery in a pre-exisitng webpage:
http://www.iistudio.com/webgallery/deep … i_aft.html

I just can't get the gallery to show, simpleviewer hangs.

Also, is there a way to remove the reference to Porta at the bottom of the gallery?

This was created in Porta.

Many thanks for the help

Ellie

Hi Felix,

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

Just as a further help, for anyone who might be trying to work this out, the following is the code that I pasted into the existing webpage - (fri_aft.html)

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" width="800" height="650" align="middle">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    <param name="movie" value="viewer.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="bgcolor" value="#333333" />
    <embed src="viewer.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#333333" width="800" height="650" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
          </object>

I have tried placing this in a new blank page to test with the same results.

In the same directory are found the index.html page created by Porta, as well as the folders with images and the .xml etc. which are at the same level as the fri_aft.html page.

I have looked carefully at working examples of embedded galleries, but they seem to have been made with the older versions - shown by having the arrow at the bottom of the main picture, or else have completely different code, having been created using Front Page.

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Ellie

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

Just thought that I would say how I did this as a workaround. The only way I can get it to work (lacking any other information from the forums (Porta and Airtight) is to put an i-frame in the page and load the index page created by the gallery. This works perfectly.

I do wish, however, that the security settings now deemed necessary in IE did not require confirmation constantly as to whether I want to show Activex content!

Did you check the FAQ, Q11? http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simp … r/faq.html

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

Hi Felix,

Yes, that was the very first thing I tried. The result I got was always a message telling me to download Flash player and if I already had it then click here to view gallery. When I clicked, the gallery opened up in a separate page. This was not what I wanted. I saw lots of discussion of this issue on the forum, but never any resolution to that problem, so tried a different code that almost worked.

Many of the things worked, but only with the old version of Porta.

I-frames will work for me, I hope.

Thanks for all your hard work, though, which usually makes my galleries so quick and easy to build.

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

Did you include the 'swfobject.js' file in the folder where yout HTML page was? This file is required for the embed code to work.

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

Ah... I included all the files created by Porta. I saw no swfobject.js file. Where does that come from?

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

swfobject.js is included in the SimpleViewer download: http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

I have uploaded this page with the recommended code from your faq #11 with the file you recommended included in the directory with the index page.
http://www.iistudio.com/webgallery/deep … /test.html

You can see that this does not work.

Am I missing anything else?

Otherwise, i-frames work okay.

Re: Simpleviewer hangs embedded in webpage

I do embeded galleries for photographers and I just had one run into this, (also used porta) but she downloaded v1.8 of simpleviewer to use within her porta and it stopped the "gallery not found" error.
