Topic: Pics not visible when site unploaded

Help please.
I have built a site using autoviewer extensively throughout. The images show fine locally, but when uploaded just x's appear across all.
I have looked at the support FAQ's and the naming is fine.
I've tested in firefox and IE, both have the same issues.

Any ideas very gratefully received.

Re: Pics not visible when site unploaded

In your gallery's XML file, the first image has the entry:

<url>images/experimental/blue-dish210.jpg</url>

All paths are relative to the HTML page into which AutoViewer is embedded so the path to the image should be:
http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/imag … ish210.jpg
However, opening this directly in a browser gives an error 404 (file not found).
Either the image is not in the correct location or your web host may have hotlink protection enabled which can prevent the viewer from accessing the images.

Re: Pics not visible when site unploaded

Hi, Thanks for your reply
So could you confirm the code which originally looked like this...

<image>
   <url>images/experimental/blue-dish210.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>1078</width>
   <height>500</height>
</image>

Should it now look like this?

<image>
   http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/imag … ish210.jpg
   <caption></caption>
   <width>1078</width>
   <height>500</height>
</image>

or like this?

<image>
   <url>http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/images/experimental/blue-dish210.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>1078</width>
   <height>500</height>
</image>

Either way, I have checked the image is located correctly and that the hotlink protection is disabled at the web host end but still no image.

Any ideas?

Re: Pics not visible when site unploaded

If using an absolute URL, it should look something like this:

<image>
   <url>http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/images/experimental/blue-dish210.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>1078</width>
   <height>500</height>
</image>

... or, alternatively, the <url> could be relative to the HTML page containing your AutoViewer SWF file.
However, going directly to http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/imag … ish210.jpg gives an error 404 (file not found).
I do not know where you have uploaded your images but, if hotlink protection is not enabled, it looks like they are not in this folder: http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/images/experimental/
Although the following link is part of the SimpleViewer Support Pages, the information applies to AutoViewer, too, and it might help.

Re: Pics not visible when site unploaded

ahh, still no resolution.
When I check links, each swfobject.js is reported as broken with this...  \""+this.getAttribute("swf")+"\" as the broken link in each case.
I have checked all the files, all the links, and that all jpegs have been saved appropriately. Also re-uploaded to remote server.

Loosing the will with this.... any other ideas would be most gratefully recieved

Re: Pics not visible when site unploaded

sorry, also showing all image folders/files and gallery.xml files as orphaned links?

Re: Pics not visible when site unploaded

I found the images folder on your server.  It is located at the root level and is called 'Images' (note the capital 'I').
Therefore, the entries in the XML file (http://rogerdoreyphotography.co.uk/exp/gallery.xml) should look like this:

<image>
   <url>Images/experimental/blue-dish210.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>1078</width>
   <height>500</height>
</image>
