Topic: Thumbnail nav arrows - need to change levels so arrows are under tmbs

Hi and thanks in advance.

I need to get the smaller thumbnail navigation arrows to sit under the thumbnail images.  I have moved the arrow to the correct position (x and y) but they are on top of the thumbnail image when it loads.

I did search the forum and found a way to do it in V1 but V2.

thumbNavPosition="BOTTOM" should position the thumbnail navigation buttons below the thumbnails.
Please post a URL to your gallery so that we can take a look.

Thanks. I am sorry, I was unclear about what I are trying to do. Your suggestion moved the nav to a position below the icons. What I am trying to do is to have the icons 'cover' the nav buttons. The nav buttons are in Center position but partially hidden by the icons.

The effect I am trying to duplicate can be found at http://doughaysart.com/garden/index.html This was done with V1 but I don't remember how.

The effect I am getting can be found at http://doughaysart.com/horses/test/index.html
Thanks for taking the time to respond.

As far as I am aware, it is not possible to change the order of the layering of the gallery elements.
However, changing thumbNavPadding="-40" to thumbNavPadding="-10" might be close to what you are trying to achieve.

Thanks.

There was a way with V1 according to this post - http://www.simpleviewer.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5145

But it is not accurate for V2.

Thanks anyway. I will use the tweak you described.

SimpleViewer v1.x came with source code in order for users to publish a modified SWF file.
SimpleViewer v2.x does not come with source code so the modification in the thread you quoted cannot be achieved.

OK. Can I ask why it was changed? Seems to be less useful rather than more.

Re: Thumbnail nav arrows - need to change levels so arrows are under tmbs

The source code was available in SimpleViewer v1.x in order for users to access the Pro Options (though it also allowed those with a knowledge of ActionScript to alter the functionality of SimpleViewer).
In order to configure a Pro Option, the user would have had to:

  • Have Adobe Flash installed (software not everyone has access to)

  • Edit the appropriate source file in a text editor

  • Publish a new customized SWF file

  • Swap the gallery's SWF file for the new version

With SimpleViewer v2.x, in order to use a Pro option, the user needs only to select it via the interface in svBuilder-Pro.

The decision to make all Pro Options configurable via XML makes customizing a gallery much quicker and more convenient, without the need to change the SWF file each time a Pro Option is changed.

Yes, you are right, of course. It makes it a lot easier for the majority of folks. And Flash is not a cheap program. And as a software developer myself, I know that no matter what features I add to one of my programs someone is not going to like it and wish it was the old way. :-)

I like your program. It does a great job.

Thanks for your responses and your patience.
