Topic: no photos showing embeded in HTML

I have used autoviewer on several different sites, but for some reason this time I can't get the photos to show.  There aren't red x's.  there's nothing.  the play and left and right arrows are visible but no photos.  can anyone help me please?

I have the height set to 340px with a photo height of 340px.  I changed the height of autoviewer to 500px to see if that would work but to no avail.  In the past it's loaded partial photos and I could adjust the height until I got it right but this time I just can't seem to get it.

thanks in advance.

Re: no photos showing embeded in HTML

Your gallery's XML file's first <image> entry is:

<image>
   <url>Brandi.jpg</url>
   <width>340</width>
   <height>226</height>
</image>

Therefore, the first image should be located at http://www.spinksphotography.com/Brandi.jpg but going directly to this address in a browser gives an error 404 (file not found).
Check that the image is in the correct location and that the filename and file extension are in the correct case (eg. Brandi.jpg vs Brandi.JPG).
There are a number of other reason that an image might not appear in the gallery.
See FAQs #2 & #3 here: http://simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/support/faq.html
Also, your web server might have hotlink protection enabled which would prevent the images from being displayed. If this is the case, then please contact your web host to request that hotlink protection be disabled on your account.

Also, AutoViewer expects there to be a <caption> tag within each <image> tag so, even if you do not want to use a caption, you should include <caption></caption> after the <url> entry.
eg:

<image>
   <url>Brandi.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>340</width>
   <height>226</height>
</image>

Re: no photos showing embeded in HTML

thank you.  i knew the answer was super simple but was just overlooking it.

I left out the image folder when naming the file - should be image/Brandi.jpg

thanks again

Re: no photos showing embeded in HTML

I feel like I must have removed my brain and left it somewhere.  Now the images are there but they're stacked on the left edge of the screen.  They don't move at all.

Re: no photos showing embeded in HTML

Add the <caption></caption> tags immediately after the <url> tags (not after the <height> tags), eg:

<image>
   <url>image/Brandi.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>340</width>
   <height>226</height>
</image>

Re: no photos showing embeded in HTML

I borrow this thread. I have the same problem. I created the Airtight Autoviewer in Lightroom 3 and everything works fine with the swf-file. I can preview from Lightroom and when open the file in Flash everything is ok, but when I embed it in Dreamweaver it do not show the images. I inserted the swf file through Insert => Media => swf and got this code:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="800" height="400" id="FlashID" title="autoviewer skidor">
      <param name="movie" value="autoviewer skidor/viewer.swf" />
      <param name="quality" value="high" />
      <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
      <param name="swfversion" value="8.0.35.0" />
      <!-- This param tag prompts users with Flash Player 6.0 r65 and higher to download the latest version of Flash Player. Delete it if you don’t want users to see the prompt. -->
      <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
      <!-- Next object tag is for non-IE browsers. So hide it from IE using IECC. -->
      <!--[if !IE]>-->
      <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="autoviewer skidor/viewer.swf" width="800" height="400">
        <!--<![endif]-->
        <param name="quality" value="high" />
        <param name="wmode" value="opaque" />
        <param name="swfversion" value="8.0.35.0" />
        <param name="expressinstall" value="Scripts/expressInstall.swf" />
        <!-- The browser displays the following alternative content for users with Flash Player 6.0 and older. -->
        <div>
          <h4>Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.</h4>
          <p><a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"><img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" width="112" height="33" /></a></p>
        </div>
        <!--[if !IE]>-->
      </object>
      <!--<![endif]-->
    </object>

I have uploaded the entire folder into the folder where I have index, contact.html etc. Are there something wrong with the links? Here is the page http://stefan-johansson.com/portfolio_reportage.html

I also have a folder inside my "root-folder" (is it called so?) that says "Script" and contains expressinstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js . Are they placed in wrong folder?

I am using Autoviewer.

It says "Copy the entire contents of your AutoViewer gallery folder into the folder that contains your HTML page (including the swfobject.js file and sub-folders)." Does that mean i should copy only the contents in the folder to my main folder, or should I copy the whole folder into the main folder? In the first case I will get two "index.html".

Another thing I was wondering, since it seems that the player works, but I can't see the images. The paths to the images say "images/xxx.jpg", but I have two folders named "images", one in the "Autoviewer"-folder and one in may main folder. Could that be a problem?

Sorry. Wrong link. The 'Note for Dreamweaver Users' for AutoViewer can be found on this page: simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/support/embedding.html
I have edited my original post with the correct link.

Copy only the contents of the gallery folder (not the folder itself).

In the first case I will get two "index.html".

The gallery's own 'index.html' file is required only if you plan to view the gallery direct.
If you plan to embed the gallery in an existing HTML page alongside other content, then the gallery's own 'index.html' page is not used and you can either rename it or leave it out when copying the contents of the gallery folder.

The paths to the images say "images/xxx.jpg", but I have two folders named "images", one in the "Autoviewer"-folder and one in may main folder. Could that be a problem?

You can merge the contents of your two 'images' folders if you like (as long as there are no duplicate file names) but if you want to keep your gallery's 'images' folder separate from your other 'images' folder, you can rename the gallery's 'image' folder and change the corresponding references within the gallery's XML file.

Re: no photos showing embeded in HTML

Thanks a lot! smile I didn't understand in which folder I should upload the files to. Don't want to complain, but I think it was a bit hard to understand, from the "Embedding AutoViewer in a HTML Page" -guide.
