Topic: Add line between images and thumbnails

Dear SV-pro users,
could you tell me whether there is a way to insert a thin line above and underneath the pictures in the gallery?
Thank you very much for any help!!
Regards,
rlp

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

This would have to be done using HTML on the page containing the embedding code.
It cannot be achieved as part of the gallery itself.

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

Hi Steven,
thanks for your reply. Since the gallery is in SWF format, there is actually no way to insert the line between the pictures and the thumbnails, is there?

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

That is correct. A thin line cannot be inserted between the main image and the thumbnails.

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

Sorry to bother you again, but I'm trying to find a work around...
I'm considering using a transparent background for my gallery and use a background image with two thin lines or a frame in the php file. Although I've checked the option "transparent background" when creating my gallery, the background remains white. Can you help me on that one?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

Making the gallery's background transparent will allow an HTML background to show through.
You can show a background image by either:
(1) Making your gallery's background transparent and setting your background image via HTML/CSS: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_background.asp
... or:
(2) Using the backgroundURL option to show the background image as part of the Flash presentation: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … .html#back

I've done a short test and it works great!
Thanks a million.

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

I have tried to add a background image to the gallery without success, despite following the instructions at http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … .html#back.
I added

backgroundURL="http://domain.com/wordpress-test/wp-content/themes/weyand/test-background.jpg"
    backgroundScale="none"
    backgroundTransparent="true"

to the preset.xml. Since this didn't work, I also tried the code directly in the pro options text field which worked neither.

The complete preset.xml looks like this currently:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<simpleviewergallery
    galleryStyle="compact"
    thumbColumns="26"
    thumbRows="1"
    frameWidth="0"
    galleryWidth="800"
    galleryHeight="600"
    backgroundURL="http://domain.com/wordpress-test/wp-content/themes/weyand/test-background.jpg"
    backgroundScale="none"
    backgroundTransparent="true"
    useColorCorrection="false"
    showOpenButton="false"
    showFullscreenButton="false"
    imageScaleMode="none"
    imageDropShadow="false"
    imageFrameStyle="SQUARE"
    FrameWidth="1"
    FrameColor="dddddd"
    imageTransitionType="CROSS_FADE"
    imageVAlign="TOP"
    imageSmoothing="false"
    stageBorder="0"
    stageHPadding="0"
    stageVPadding="0"
    stageVAlign="TOP"
    stageHAlign="CENTER"
    enableLooping="false"
    lockTopStack="false"
    enableAPI="false"
    firstImageIndex="0"
    titlePosition="none"
    showOverlay="NEVER"
    captionPosition="LEFT"
    floatCaption="true"
    captionTextAlignment="LEFT"
    captionFontColor="666666"
    captionBackColor="FFFFFF"
    captionDropShadow="false"
    enableCaptionLinks="false"
    captionFontSize="12"
    showImageNumber="false"
    showBackButton="false"
    mobileShowNav="false"
    mobileShowCaption="false"
    mobileShowThumbs="false"
    floatTitle="false"
    thumbPadding="4"
    thumbHoverFrameWidth="1"
    thumbFrameHoverColor="999999"
    thumbFrameColor="dddddd"
    thumbFrameWidth="1"
    thumbFrameStyle="SQUARE"
    thumbHAlign="LEFT"
    thumbVAlign="BOTTOM"
    doThumbPopOut="false"
    thumbDropShadow="false"
    showThumbVisited="false"
    showThumbLoadBar="true"
    thumbLoadBarHeight="10"
    thumbNavStyle="CIRCLE"
    thumbNavColor="666666"
    thumbNavHoverColor="333333"
    useFixedLayout="true"
    imageAreaWidth="510"
    imageAreaHeight="340"
    imageAreaX="0"
    imageAreaY="15"
    thumbAreaY="420"
    thumbAreaX="-45"
    captionX="-13"
    captionY="370"
    titleX="10"
    titleY="100"
    thumbNavBackColor="FFFFFF"
    thumbNavPadding="0"
    thumbNavSlideTime="1"
    lockBottomStack="false"
    dropShadowStrength="0"/>

What I need to achieve is a thin line between the main image and caption and thumbnails, which are placed beneath the main image. I verified the background image's URL, so that's not the reason.

Do you have any further suggestions for me?

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

@ da_spida
Please post the URL to the gallery exhibiting the problem so that we can take a look.

backgroundTransparent is an Embed Option and should not be set in the gallery's XML file.
Instead, the background can be made transparent by setting the backgroundColor Embed Code Parameter to transparent.
See this FAQ for details: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … ml#embed_6

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

Hi Steven,

the URL to the gallery in question is http://simone-weyand.de/wordpress-test/portrait-i/
and you'll find the preset.xml at http://simone-weyand.de/preset.xml

Thank you again for your support!

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

Since this didn't work, I also tried the code directly in the pro options text field which worked neither.

Currently, your backgroundURL is in your presetURL XML file.
The backgroundURL option should be placed in the standard gallery XML file (not the presetURL XML file).
See here for details: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … ml#presets

Presets only affect options that relate to gallery appearance, not gallery content. The following options are not affected by presets: Local image data, Flickr search options, title, audioURL, backgroundURL.

Please try putting the backgroundURL back into the gallery's own XML (via the WP-SimpleViewer 'Pro Options' text field) and if it still does not display, I'll take another look.

Re: Add line between images and thumbnails

Hi,

I put backgroundURL once again into the pro options text field and this time it works! Maybe I'd forgot the quotes last time.
Thank you very much for your help!
