Topic: centering image on thumbnail grid

I was able to visually balance an image of either horizontal or portrait orientation vertically centered on the thumbnail grid in v1.9. In v2 that no longer seems possible. I have explored every mutable parameter I can and have not yet found one that works the same as the automatic centering of v1.9.  Am I missing something or is this no longer an option?

The v1.9 gallery with proper image-to-thumbnail grid is shown here:

The v2.1.3 gallery with offset image-to-thumbnail grid is shown here:

The vertical offset is minimal and less obtrusive than when displaying a horizontal image, which I'd really like to adjust.

Re: centering image on thumbnail grid

Try using a Fixed Layout which will allow you to position the stage elements exactly where you would like them to be.

Re: centering image on thumbnail grid

I've been leery of fixed layout. What are the downsides to using it? Browser compatibility, loss of auto-resizing to fit netbook and smaller type screens, mobile browser layout suffers, any of those sorts of things to be aware of? If so, I'd prefer to stick with a slight funky alignment. I will experiment with it but I know I won't be able to catch everything, thus the question to the source.

Re: centering image on thumbnail grid

With a Fixed Layout, there is no problem with browser compatibility or with the Mobile Player (which disregards the Fixed Layout settings). However, the gallery will not dynamically resize with the browser window size.
As an alternative, you could try setting thumbNavPosition="CENTER" for the thumbnail navigation arrows to no longer be included in the thumbnail section's height. The thumbnails and the main image should then line up more accurately.

Re: centering image on thumbnail grid

While the  thumbNavPosition="CENTER" does help the balance it creates more serious design issues. If there were other choices for arrows it would help. If I sent along the .fla file in which I've edited the arrow buttons, would that help entice you to include them in the next revision? The arrows I'm referring to can be seen in action here: http://stephendonwerth.com/Galleries/ex … y%201.html

Re: centering image on thumbnail grid

If there were other choices for arrows it would help.

There are several arrow styles available via the thumbNavStyle option: CIRCLE, CLASSIC, BIG, SQUARE, TRIANGLE and NUMERIC.
Please see here for details: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … l#thumbnav

A further alternative would be to:
(1) Set thumbNavStyle="NONE" to disable the gallery's own thumbnail navigation buttons (to retain the balance)
(2) Create your own buttons and place them elsewhere on your page
(3) Make your own buttons act like the thumbnail navigation buttons by using the SimpleViewer Pro API methods showThumbPage and getThumbPageIndex

Re: centering image on thumbnail grid

I miss not being able to make my gallery appear more customized and less like the standard set of graphics options. I will hope for an integrated 'use your own png' symbol in the future. I don't see putting custom graphics elsewhere as a viable option. They only make sense in one location with my chosen layout.
