Topic: Embedded gallery - images enlarge to fit www dimensions

Hello,

I have been working on my new emdedded gallery - It took me hours to finally get the website to ready the embedded gallery. Now the problem that I cannot overcome is why my images in max resolution 800px enlarge to fit the space they have on the website. Additionally I cannot get thumbnails to appear above the photos.

The problem can be seen on the following link - especially photo no. 2 is huge...
http://gallery.myworld.net.pl/

Could anyone suggest where and what to change to have the photos at their desired original resolution and not bigger?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Embedded gallery - images enlarge to fit www dimensions

Your embedding code uses the following line:

simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '000000', false, flashvars);

The useFlash Embed Code Parameter has been set to 'false' forcing SimpleViewer to use the Mobile Player.
Change the line to the following for SimpleViewer to use the Flash Player to display your gallery and your thumbnails will appear above the main images (as you have set thumbPosition="TOP" in your gallery's XML file).

simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '000000', true, flashvars);

Re: Embedded gallery - images enlarge to fit www dimensions

Hello Steven,

It all worked perfect! - thank you very much!

The 'test gallery' seems ready: http://gallery.myworld.net.pl/

Just two more technical questions...

1. The flash gallery overlaps with the drop down flash menu and the drop down lists hide behind the gallery, which makes them useles... I had the same problem with flash map application on my website http://www.myworld.net.pl but they suggested I add so.addParam('wmode', 'opaque'); to the embedding code and it worked. I am not sure (as I have little-to-no idea about flash codes...) how it can work with the galleries... Would the parameter mode be the same or different? Where in the embedding code do I need to put it and does it need to be preceded/followed by anything? Now the code is as follows;

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="../incl/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars={};
        flashvars.baseURL="../incl/";
    flashvars.languageCode = "EN";
        simpleviewer.ready(function () {
            simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '000000', true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

2. Resize images (tick/untick) - I have images set to 800px x 800px and thumbnails to 70px x 70px. When I have 'resize images' ticked, I can see that thumbs are good quality (otherwise they are blurred). If the original images for the gallery are max 800px, does this mean they will not be affected whatsoever by the application resizing images? Even if images scale to adjust to the space available for the gallery? I am asking as my vertical images are showing slightly smaller than 800px due to space limit on the website that I have set, and I do not want them to lose on quality in comparison to the originals...

Many thanks for all your help!

Re: Embedded gallery - images enlarge to fit www dimensions

(1) See this FAQ for details: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … ml#embed_5
Use the following embedding code:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="../incl/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars={};
flashvars.baseURL="../incl/";
flashvars.languageCode="EN";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', 'transparent', true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container" style="background-color: #000000;"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

(2) If you deselect 'Resize Images' before adding images to your gallery, then the original images will be copied across to the output 'images' folder when publishing your gallery.
If you select 'Resize Images' but your original images are within the bounds of the 'Max Image Size', then the original images will, again, be copied across to the output 'images' folder without being resized and resaved.
You can change the image scaling within the gallery by changing the Image Scale Mode ('Customize -> Main Image').

If you do not wish the gallery to be dynamically resized with the size of the user's browser window, instead preferring your images to always be displayed at a certain size, then you could use a Fixed Layout ('Customize -> Fixed Layout').

Re: Embedded gallery - images enlarge to fit www dimensions

Thank you Steven, all has worked fine. The only disappointment is that when you open the gallery full screen, the background colour changes to default grey instead of desired black - I believe this is due to the 'transparent' mode that resolved the issue of overlap between drop down menu and the gallery? Is there any way to fix this as well to have black background on full screen? I am still considering whether the grey colour is a problem but if there is any way to change it, it would be nice to know in case I decide to change it after all.

Yes. Use the following embedding code:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="../../gallery/can_cau/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars={};
flashvars.baseURL="../../gallery/can_cau/";
flashvars.languageCode="EN";
var params={};
params.bgcolor="#000000";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', 'transparent', true, flashvars, params);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container" style="background-color: #000000;"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Great!

Thank you Steven, this all has been really helpful.
The gallery is now as I wanted it to be.
