Topic: Help create index page and other things

Hi,
i would like to have some help for my site.
I'm going to explain...

This is my site www.sizapadovan.com and I have a Portfolio page where i'd like to see the Simpleviewer galleries menu and then the galleries (for example www.sizapadovan.com/portfolio with the click-choice of the multiple galleries) BUT:

- I really don't know how to create an "index.html" page (that i'd like to rename as "portfolio" maybe "portfolio.html"?);
- If i want to have the simpleviewer galleries not in a separate full-screen page, but just as a post continuing to see all the site things (like this http://www.anitapeeples.com/pet-photos.html), what i have to do?

I'm quite new in "this world" so please forgive me sad

Silvia

Re: Help create index page and other things

I really don't know how to create an "index.html" page

A selection of embedding examples (including 'Multiple Galleries on Separate HTML Pages') can be downloaded from the 'Download all embed examples' link on this page: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … l#multiple
You can examine the code and modify it to suit your needs.

If i want to have the simpleviewer galleries not in a separate full-screen page, but just as a post continuing to see all the site things

If you would like to embed a SimpleViewer gallery into an existing HTML page alongside other content, then please follow the instructions here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … html#embed

Re: Help create index page and other things

I really can't fix the problem.
"Gallery XML not found"... so when embed SimpleViewer gallery into an existing HTML page, in what folder do i have to put the gallery.xml file?

And in case i would have more galleries in the same existing HTML page as above, how it works?

Re: Help create index page and other things

I probably understand the problem.
My site is based on wordpress so i can't "Copy the entire contents of your SimpleViewer gallery folder into the folder that contains your HTML page".

So i'm trying to use the WP Plugin but this is the result:

"[simpleviewer
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class Page in /home7/sizapado/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-simpleviewer/buildgallery.php on line 1153]"

I use Bluehost as web hosting and they told me their server don't support 777 permissions, and to change to 755.
But i still figure the same issue as before (above here).

I also think that i bought the pro version for nothing sad

Re: Help create index page and other things

If you are unable to set the permissions for the '/wp-content/uploads/' folder to 777, then WP-SimpleViewer will be unable to create or edit the required gallery XML files.
An alternative to using WP-SimpleViewer would be to create your galleries using svBuilder-Pro, upload the complete gallery folders to your web server using an FTP program (such as Filezilla) and embed each gallery in a WordPress post using one of the two methods described here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … l#external

Re: Help create index page and other things

I still see nothing sad
I tried these method before but still not see anything.

"prova" is the complete folder where i saved the gallery using sv-builder pro.
I copied the entire folder in the main directory of my site (maybe i have to copy it in a particular folder such as "publich_html"?) using filezilla and i copied the embed code:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "222222", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

I also discovered that tiping http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova/prova.html it works, but not in the same html page.
And even if I'd be happy to see it full screen (so not in the pre-existing HTML page), I couldn't still copy this address in a new page permalink, because if I write http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova/prova.html, when i save the permalink, the result is  http://www.sizapadovan.com/provaprova-html

I'm not going to erase the "prova" folder, so you can see.

I searched a solution for a long time, and arrived at this point I'm frustrated, because every attempt there is an impediment.

Re: Help create index page and other things

maybe i have to copy it in a particular folder such as "publich_html"?

Each web server is different but it sounds like your gallery folder should be uploaded somewhere within the 'publich_html' folder on your web server for it to be publicly viewable. You can check with your web host as to where files should be uploaded to if you are unsure.

i copied the embed code

Please post the URL to the WordPress post into which your copied the embed code so that I can try to discover why the gallery is not displayed. The embedding code you posted looks fine. Did you make sure that, when copying the code into the body of the post, the method of entry was 'HTML' rather than 'Visual'?

Re: Help create index page and other things

this is the url post: http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova
because the folder it's named prova.

anyway, this is what I wish I could see in my site: http://www.anitapeeples.com/pet-photos.html but i don't know how to reach for it! sad

Re: Help create index page and other things

That URL is not a WordPress post page. It is a gallery folder with no other files in it (other than a duplicate of the HTML index page ('prova.html') without a file extension).
If you pasted the embedding code into a WordPress post via the WordPress Dashboard, then please post the URL which you would enter into the browser's address bar to see the post (whether the gallery is being displayed or not).

Being that you have successfully uploaded the gallery folder, the gallery can be embedded in an existing HTML page alongside other content by inserting the code you posted above into either:
(1) a standard HTML page (at the point in the page into which you wish the gallery to appear) or...
(2) a WordPress post (using 'HTML' as the method of entry)

i copied the embed code

Where did you copy and paste the code?
I need to see the page into which the code is being inserted (whether it is a standard HTML page or a WordPress page).

Re: Help create index page and other things

http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova it's a page.
I set the permalink to rename with the post/page title.
So, as the page it's named Prova, as the link is http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova
And i copied the embed code into it.

I want to have a main page that I want to call Portfolio (www.sizapadovan.com/portfolio) and inside all the galleries, with links to gallery1, gallery2 (so not alla galleris visible in the same page, just the link as a multiple galleries).

So, i would like to see the galleries at this adress:
- www.sizapadovan.com/portfolio/gallery1
- www.sizapadovan.com/portfolio/gallery2
- and so on.

Re: Help create index page and other things

http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova/ is a directory (a gallery folder).
http://www.sizapadovan.com/prova/prova is an HTML file (with no file extension).
The only content of the 'prova' file is the gallery's embedding code. There is no evidence of this page being produced by WordPress.

If you wish to simply link to a gallery, then upload the entire gallery folder (not just the contents) and link to the gallery's HTML index page using an HTML hyperlink, eg:

<a href="http://www.sizapadovan.com/portfolio/gallery1/index.html">link to gallery</a>

If you wish to embed a gallery into an existing HTML file alongside other content, then the embedding code should be inserted into this page.

You seem to have pasted the code into an otherwise 'empty' HTML file ('prova').
Did you create a new WordPress post and then paste the embedding code into the text area provided?
If so, view the post and then copy and paste the URL from your browser's address bar so that I can see the WordPress page.
