Topic: New and Lost

I have looked through some of these posts and can't find the answer I am looking for.  I guess I am just completely lost.  I downloaded the folder, installed the svBuilder, and I followed the instructions but it just doesn't work.  I know it is me but I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I followed the instructions on the page.  I copied the web file to the file that contains my site.  I opened the svBuilder and built a gallery.  I then copied the code to Frontpage, inserted it where I wanted it, saved the file, and then opened the html page in Firefox.  Nothing is there.  In fact, when I go to 'Publish' in the svBuilder and it automatically opens it in the browser you can see the thumbnails but not the large image.

I am new to installing lightboxes and don't know much about javascript, etc, but I thought this seemed straightforward.  I would like to know from my description if anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks, all help is appreciated,
Chrissy

Re: New and Lost

Try the following:
(1) Create a gallery with svBuilder
(2) Upload the entire gallery folder (not just the contents) to the root of your web server with an FTP program such as Filezilla
(3) Enter the following embedding code into your existing web page where you would like the gallery to be displayed

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.example.com/mygallery/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.example.com/mygallery/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "222222", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

... changing 'www.example.com' in the above code to your own domain and 'mygallery' to the name of your gallery folder.

This method of embedding (described here) does not require renaming or moving any files and because all the gallery files are self-contained in their own gallery folder, there will not be any issue with duplicate file names.

If you continue to experience difficulties, please post the URL to your gallery so that we can take a look.

Re: New and Lost

Okay, that helped a lot! I uploaded the file to my FTP and renamed it mygallery.  I put the 2 missing lines of code with the flashvars in it and changed both lines from www.example.com to my website name.  Now it is coming up as a huge black box and it says Gallery XML not found. sad

Re: New and Lost

Please post the URL to your gallery so that we can take a look.
In the meantime, please see this FAQ regarding the 'Gallery XML Not Found.' message: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … #trouble_6

Re: New and Lost

I uploaded the page to my site.  It is http://www.chrissyclark.com/Gallery.htm

I checked and the gallery file is in the correct place in the folder in my FTP.

Re: New and Lost

Thanks for the link.
Try adding a trailing slash to your baseURL.
ie, change:

flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.chrissyclark.com/mygallery";

... to:

flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.chrissyclark.com/mygallery/";

Re: New and Lost

It is still giving me the same message. Sorry to be such a pain. sad

Re: New and Lost

You have not included your flashvars as an Embed Code Parameter in your embedding code.
Change:

simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "600", "600", "000000", false);

... to:

simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "600", "600", "000000", false, flashvars);

As an aside, the 'false' in the line above will force the gallery to be displayed with the Mobile Player (HTML5) regardless of whether or not the user's browser has Adobe Flash Player installed and enabled.
If you wish your gallery to be displayed using the Flash Player if available (falling back to the Mobile Player if not, eg. on mobile devices), then change 'false' to 'true'.
