Topic: Wordpress integration

Hello there.

I wonder if there is an easy way to integrate poctcardviewer into Wordpress? I've been using NextGEN Flashviewer plug-in that was created by ShabuShabu Webdesign but this plug-in hasn't been updated recently.

After updating W3 Total Cache Plug-in I started to see XML not found instead of the gallery. This is how I started to question this old, not updated plug-in produced by ShabuShabu design.

So I'm not sure what the problem is but I wonder if there is an easy way to integrate postcardviewer into wordpress, into posts.

You can see how I use postcardviever here on my website: http://istanbulplace.com/apartments/pasha-place/

I uninstalled latest version of W3 total cache 0.9.2.4 and installed the previous version 0.9.2.3 so this is why the galleries work at the moment.

Re: Wordpress integration

Perhaps the easiest way to embed a PostcardViewer-Pro gallery into a WordPress post would be to use an <iframe>.
(1) Create your PostcardViewer-Pro gallery by your method of choice: http://simpleviewer.net/postcardviewer/support/#start
(2) Upload your entire gallery folder (not just the contents) to your web server
(3) Insert the following code into the body of your WordPress post (ensuring that the method of entry is 'HTML' rather than 'Visual')

<iframe src="http://www.example.com/gallery/index.html" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

... changing 'www.example.com' above to your own domain name and changing 'gallery' to the name of your gallery folder.

Re: Wordpress integration

Thank you very much Steven. iframe works. I've applied this solution on one page to test it first. There is a slight problem though. There is a black square showing up for an instant before the images are shown. I tried to set iframe's background to white and transparent but it doesn't seem like helping.  I'm using Firefox 6.0.2 (latest).

You can see what I mean here in the following link: http://istanbulplace.com/apartments/aslan-place/

If you look at the other example (no iframe used but the plugin from ShabuShabu design) this doesn't happen:
http://istanbulplace.com/apartments/pasha-place/

Do you have any suggestions?

Re: Wordpress integration

I see a light-grey square rather than a black square so I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing.
However, the light-grey square to which I refer is caused by the background color of the gallery's HTML index page.
On this page: http://istanbulplace.com/wp-content/apartments-gallery/aslanplace/index.html
... change:

background-color: #cccccc;

... to:

background-color: #ffffff;

Re: Wordpress integration

hmmm this is a bit strange. Do you see the thumbnails though? Or grey square without any pictures? Also does this grey square appaers for an instant or is it always there?

Re: Wordpress integration

The grey square I see appears very briefly (a fraction of a second) and is quickly replaced by the gallery itself, which functions correctly. It is the same size as your <iframe> and appears only intermittently when refreshing the page.
It is caused by the background color of the gallery's HTML index page being set to #cccccc.

Does the black square show up when visiting this page only: http://istanbulplace.com/apartments/aslan-place/
... or do you see it here also: http://istanbulplace.com/wp-content/apa … slanplace/
If you see it only in the first link, then it suggests that the problem is not with the gallery itself but with the page into which the gallery is embedded where something else is causing this problem.

Does the black square always show up every time the page is reloaded?
Is the black square the size of the <iframe>?
Do you see the black square in all browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari)?
Inconsistencies between viewing a web page in different browsers can often be attributed to HTML errors on the page and I notice that your page contains a few errors.
You could validate your page with the W3C Markup Validation Service and fix any errors reported. This may help.

Re: Wordpress integration

Hello Steven.

Thank you so much for your great support. Somehow the square was black on my screen but I realised that it was grey on another. So basically we were talking about the same thing.

After changing all #cccccc to #ffffff in index.html now this grey square disappeared.

Thanks a lot one more time.
