Topic: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Hi,

I really like your program and I'm trying to get it to work.
However, I'm having no luck viewing pictures on Firefox or any other browser.

I created my gallery using you Svbuilder V2 with only one picture as a test.
It previewed OK.
I copied all those files & loaded then in the root directory of my website.
via my VSD program.

ie 1) images, thumbs, svcore, gallery.xml
    2) Pasted your embeded code.

I previewed it in my Coffeecup "Visual Site Designer (VSD) program.
It was perfect.

I published it thru VSD. Upon viewing it on the web.
Everything showed up except the picture was a X.
My picture was a small 4 letter name using both .jpg & gif formats.

After spending many hours trying everything I know.
I'm ready to call it quits and head for the hills.

I contacted CoffeeCup Support Team rep.
In a one sentence reply: I'm not familiar with SvBuilder,
check with Svbuilder's support guys.

Well now I'm Stuck.

Any help would be just great

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Please post the URL to your gallery so that we can take a look.
In the meantime, please see this FAQ which deals with seeing crosses where your images should be: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … #trouble_2

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Steven,

I'm not quite sure what you want me to send you.

Do you want the URL of the page that reflects the images that are a X?

Since I'm using VSD all of the following folders with files go direct to the Root directory
of my web site. I did not put them in a Folder called "gallery"
It didn't work when I did that.

ie image (folder) thumbs (folder);  svcore (folder); xml file.
I had to rename index.html to oindex.html. all went to my root.
For some unknown reason my web page crashed when I pasted that to my
root directory. I don't even refer to it in VSD.

Do you want me to send you all those files? If so, how would I do it?

I not sure if this would help. But you might like to download a free trial of
Visual Site Designer from Coffeecup.com.

Maybe you'll  have the same problem as me.

Anyway I'm still hang'n on..hoping I can use your program to view my pictures.

Review in summary:
VSD program previewed them perfect.
The web showed everything but the images. X marked the spot.

Thanks

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Please post the web address of the page that you are visiting in your browser which shows the gallery where the 'X's currently appear, ie. visit your gallery on the web in a browser, copy the location of the gallery (from the address bar of your browser) and paste it into your next post in this forum. I should be able to help further once I see the structure and files of your uploaded gallery. Thank you.

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Steven,

Here's my URL of the Page
http://larrys-place.coffeecup.com/Page18.html

Firefox blocks this. If I entered this URL
Internet explore (msn) took it.

As you can tell I am re-routing my Larrys-place.com thru coffeecup.com
Entering www.larrys-place.com  displays my web page

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Your gallery's XML file contains only one image and the path to the image is 'images/doriec.gif'.
Relative paths are relative to the HTML page into which the gallery is embedded so the path to the image should be:
http://larrys-place.coffeecup.com/images/doriec.gif
However, going directly to this address in a browser results in an error 404 (file not found).
Make sure that your image has been uploaded to the correct location and that the case (upper vs lower) of both the filename and file extension match the entry in the XML file.

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Steven,

Well this program has got me. Or I should say between this program and VSD program
I'm heading for the hills. I'm whipped.

Nothing I tried works. My only hope is someone out there might use
Svbuilder V2 & VSD and they have solved this Dilemma.

Your program seems simple enough to create files, however installing them in such
a way that Coffecup's VSD will handle them correctly is another story.

Thanks for your help

Re: SimpleViewer Not Working with CoffeeCup VSD

Having downloaded and installed the trial version of CoffeeCup VSD, it appears that going to 'Edit -> Add Files' allows you to add files (individually) to your project but you may not be able to add your entire gallery folder in a single action which would make adding a SimpleViewer gallery to a VSD project rather tedious.
You might be better served by using an FTP application such as Filezilla to upload your entire gallery folder (not just the contents) to your web server using a single drag-and-drop action.
You could then add the required embedding code (one of these 2 methods) into your HTML page within VSD.
Please note that I am not familiar with VSD and perhaps other VSD users reading this could offer other suggestions.
