Topic: embedding in dreamweaver

I have  build my website  with Dreamweaver and want to embed Simpleviewer ain one of the pages.
I am trying to embed my gallery into a page with a header and footer and I am not having any luck at all.  Ive tried following all of the how-to's and nothing has worked.  I have the gallery folder in the right place but when I put my code into my page I get nothing at all.  What am i doing wrong ?? my website is: www.potartwebdesign.nl

Re: embedding in dreamweaver

Your page http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/pictures.html has the embedding code in the middle of a <div> tag.
The closing > of the opening <div> tag comes after the embedding code but should be placed after the opening <div.

<div<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "65%", "65%", "D0CAC4", true);
});
</script>

<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->></div>

Also, the embedding code is looking for the file 'simpleviewer.js' to be located at http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js but going directly to this address in a broswer results in an error 404 (file not found).
Make sure that you have uploaded the 'svcore' folder alongside your 'pictures.html' file in the root directory of your web space.

Re: embedding in dreamweaver

Re: embedding in dreamweaver

The thumbnails seem to be present in the 'thumbs' folder but the main images do not seem to be present on your web server.
Your gallery's XML file has the following entry for the first image:

<image imageURL="images/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" thumbURL="thumbs/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" linkURL="images/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" linkTarget="_blank">

... but going directly to where the image should be in a browser http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/images/gr … pie%29.jpg results in an error 404 (file not found).
Make sure that your 'images' folder has been uploaded alongside your 'thumbs' folder.

Re: embedding in dreamweaver

It still looks like your 'images' folder has not been uploaded or is in the wrong location.
Try to locate one of your images on your web server in a browser and copy and paste the web address into a post and I can then provide you with a sample <image> entry for your gallery's XML file.

Re: embedding in dreamweaver

Hello Steven,

when i made the simpleviewer files i placed them all in a map called "Gallery", and all my simpleviewer files are there and  located in that map. I've cheched it on the server and all the pictures in the map "images" are there. Also there  is a map called   "svcore", "thumbs", one xml document called "Gallery" and one html document called "index"

Sorry but i don't know how to locate one of my images on my web server in a browser and copy and paste the web address into a post.

Hope that you can come futher with this. best regards

Re: embedding in dreamweaver

when i made the simpleviewer files i placed them all in a map called "Gallery"

Thank you. That helps.
Your images are located here: http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/Gallery/images/
Your thumbs are located here: http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/Gallery/thumbs/

Your thumbnails show up in your gallery because you have a duplicate thumbs folder here: http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/thumbs/

In your gallery's XML file http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/gallery.xml you have entries such as:

<image imageURL="images/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" thumbURL="thumbs/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" linkURL="images/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" linkTarget="_blank">

Change this to:

<image imageURL="Gallery/images/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" thumbURL="Gallery/thumbs/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" linkURL="Gallery/images/groene kikker (Kopie).jpg" linkTarget="_blank">

Afterwards, you could then delete your duplicate thumbs folder from here: http://www.potartwebdesign.nl/thumbs/
