Topic: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

Hi I'm using simple viewer pro and have some questions.

1 I'm creating galleries and then uploading the whole folder via ftp to my site where i give people the address and they can see the gallery. that works great however i would like to add my logo to the gallery , I'm not sure where to put the image of my logo and then where to get the path information to paste into the title slot. sorry if this is basic but I'm clueless when it comes to code or programming..

2 on a similar note if i wanted to use a background image where would i put that and where would i see what the path to it would be.

thanks in advance
Mark

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

Please see the 'Adding Branding' section of the SimpleViewer-Pro support page for details: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … /#branding

A background image can be used via the backgroundURL option: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … .html#back

If using svBuilder-Pro to create your galleries, the background options can be found in the 'Customize -> Background Image' section.

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

I have read all these notes and I'm afraid its still over my head.
I understand I can use an image as a title, my question is where should that image actually live in the images folder that is created when I save out the gallery?
Sorry if this is basic I'm just lost

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

You can put the image anywhere you like as long as the path to the image is correct.
If you put the image directly inside the gallery folder (alongside the 'index.html' file), then the 'title' you would type into svBuilder-Pro's 'Title' field would look something like:

<img src="image.jpg" height="50" width="50">

If you put the image inside the 'images' folder within the gallery folder, then the 'title' you would use would look something like:

<img src="images/image.jpg" height="50" width="50">

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

thank you i feel like a programmer..
lastly (i hope)

if i would like to use a background image and the background image is going to live in the gallery folder where would i see what the path is to paste into the background URL section?, is there a way to copy and paste from somewhere? would my ftp program show me the path?

once again sorry for my beginer ness

Mark

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

The backgroundURL can be either absolute or relative (to the HTML file containing the embedding code).

If it is to be absolute, it will be in the form http://www.example.com/gallery/images/image.jpg and you will need to know exactly where the image will be uploaded on your web server.

However, the backgroundURL can also be relative and if so, it will be relative to the gallery's HTML index page.
Therefore, if you just type in the image name itself into the backgroundURL field, SimpleViewer will look for the image in the same folder as the 'index.html' page.
Typing in 'images/image.jpg' means that, starting from the folder where the 'index.html' page is located, SimpleViewer will look for a folder named 'images' and then inside that folder it will look for a file named 'images.jpg'.

Using relative paths means that you do not need to know in advance exactly where on your web server the gallery is to be uploaded to. You just need to know where the background image is to be stored relative to the 'index.html' page.

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

ok really this is the last question..
Is there a way in simple terms to turn either the background image (my logo) or the title into a button that would click back to my website..

if not ill live..
thank you in advance

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

Yes. Rather than just use an image for your title, you could turn the image into a hyperlink by replacing:

<img src="images/image.jpg" height="50" width="50">

with:

<a href="http://www.example.com/"><img src="images/image.jpg" height="50" width="50"></a>

... replacing http://www.example.com above with the URL of your choice.

That works beautifully Locally,
but when i upload to my FTP, the logo as a hyper link stops working , and gets squashed a little.
heres the link..

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

Your code is as follows:

title="&lt;img src=&quot;image.png&quot; height=&quot;23&quot; width=&quot;350&quot;>"

the logo as a hyper link stops working

There is no hyperlink in the title. Make sure you add the link (the <a> ... </a> part)  to the 'title' and re-upload your gallery's XML file.
Also, the image looks squashed because the image itself is 504px x 72px but you have asked SimpleViewer to display it at 350px x 23px. Either resize the image or choose dimensions in the same aspect ratio as the original image (eg. 350px x 50px).

Re: Help I'm new and just want to put my logo in the viewer.

Try adding hspace and vspace attributes to your <img> tag, eg:

<img src="images/image.jpg" height="50" width="50" hspace="20" vspace="20">

The HTML tags supported by Adobe Flash Player can be found here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatfo … l#htmlText
Please see the 'Image Tag' section for details.
