Topic: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

I have created uploaded and figured out the code-ing for my galleries I'd love to know how to get them on to a page like this

http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … /gallery1/

I'm a real novice with web design and I'm using iweb build my pages (I know can be a real hinderance)
is there a Simple viewer program that will help with this?

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

In order to embed a SimpleViewer-Pro gallery into an existing HTML page alongside other content using iWeb, please see the 'Embedding with iWeb' section of the 'SimpleViewer Embedding Guide' here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … .html#iweb
If you wish to have your web site look like the first link you posted, you could download the 'View Horizontal Resizable Gallery with Side Menu Example' itself from this page: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … #resizable
... and swap the two sample galleries for your own.

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

the gallery works but the formatting is not there?
http://web.me.com/jmbglass/horizontal-t … /vela.html

the other files are in the folder for the Horizontal template but are not being recognized

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

The link you posted displays a blank page because the embedding code of the page contains the line:

<script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>

... but the JavaScript file is not located at the location:
http://web.me.com/jmbglass/horizontal-t … eviewer.js
Check that you have uploaded the 'svcore' folder to the correct location.

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

I noticed in the sample that gallery 1 and 2 don't have svcore files showing so i removed them thinking that that was my problem... guess not  lol please try the link again

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

Your 'vela.html' page is simply a single gallery's HTML index page.
In order for the page to display a menu within a header as well as the gallery itself, you will have to edit the 'index.html' files from within the 'gallery1' and 'gallery2' folders in the 'horizontal-template' sample rather than just replace them with standard gallery HTML index pages.

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

would it be to much trouble to site specifically what changes need to be made I'm a complete novice if you haven't guessed already.

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

Take the 'example/horizontal-template/' folder as a template.
In the 'example/horizontal-template/gallery1/' folder, replace the 'gallery.xml' file and the 'images' and 'thumbs' folders with the 'gallery.xml' file and 'images' and 'thumbs' folders from your own first gallery's folder.
Replace the same file and folders in the 'example/horizontal-template/gallery2/' folder with the corresponding file and folders from your own second gallery folder.
If you have a third gallery, copy a gallery folder (ie. 'gallery1' or 'gallery2'), name it 'gallery3' and do the same as above.
However, with a third gallery, you will now need to edit the 'index.html' files within the 'gallery1', 'gallery2' and 'gallery3' folders in order to have a link to the third gallery from the other gallery pages.

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

Is there a way to get the settings (frame width, caption location etc) in to the Index code for the Horizontal template (I have been looking for a while and my eyes are crossing ... smile
this is the Horizontal index:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
<head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>Vela</title>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="../css/sv.horizontal.template.css" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="../js/jquery-1.4.4.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="../svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function doLayout() {
        var winHeight, winWidth, headerWidth;
        winHeight = window.innerHeight ? window.innerHeight : $(window).height();
        winWidth = window.innerWidth ? window.innerWidth : $(window).width();
        headerWidth = $('#header').outerWidth();
        $('#flashContent').height(parseInt(winHeight)).width(parseInt(winWidth) - parseInt(headerWidth));
    }

    $(document).ready(function () {
        doLayout();
        $(window).bind('resize', doLayout);
        SV.simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '222222',true);
    });
    </script>
</head>
<body>

    <div id="header">
        <a href = "../gallery1/index.html">Vela</a><br />
        <a href = "../gallery2/index.html">Basket</a><br />
        <a href = "../gallery3/index.html">Textile</a><br />
        <a href = "../gallery4/index.html">Rapport Optique</a><br />
        <a href = "../gallery5/index.html">Fused</a><br />
        <a href = "../gallery6/index.html">Collaboration</a><br />
        <a href = "../gallery7/index.html">Special projects</a><br />
    </div>

    <div id="flashContent">
        <div id="sv-container"></div>
    </div>

</body>
</html>

This is the index with settings created on the Simple viewer pro (missing the horizontal bar of course)

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
    <title>SimpleViewer Gallery</title>
</head>

<body>

    <!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->
    <script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    simpleviewer.ready(function () {
        simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '222222', true);
    });
    </script>
    <div id="sv-container"></div>
    <!--END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

</body>
</html>

Any thoughts?

The gallery settings are stored in the gallery's XML file.
You can have a different XML file (named uniquely) for each gallery and point to the correct XML files via the galleryURL flashvar option: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … tions.html

For example, in 'gallery1/index.html' you could use something like:

$(document).ready(function () {
  doLayout();
  $(window).bind('resize', doLayout);
  var flashvars={};
  flashvars.galleryURL="gallery1.xml";
  SV.simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '222222', true, flashvars);
});

... and in 'gallery2/index.html', you would use something like:

$(document).ready(function () {
  doLayout();
  $(window).bind('resize', doLayout);
  var flashvars={};
  flashvars.galleryURL="gallery2.xml";
  SV.simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '222222', true, flashvars);
});

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

Hi Steven, Once again I'm updating the site and my new Gallery Introverre has been created Perhaps in a backwards way .. the link is not highlighted or underlined. http://jmbglass.com/simplevwr/JMB2012jo … index.html

Is there a Fix that I'm missing It's been so long since I have worked with them that it's once again a foreign matter.

Re: Creating menu page for multiple galleries?

the link is not highlighted or underlined

You have a line break after the link for the previous gallery whose tag has not been closed.
Change:

<a href = "../gallery7/index.html">Special projects</a><br /

... to:

<a href = "../gallery7/index.html">Special projects</a><br />
