Topic: Help with image resizes..

Hi Guys, I have a problem. My Autoviewer gallery has both Landscape and Portrait images. This is my XML code

<image>
   <url>image/pic1.jpg</url>
      <caption></caption>
   <width>700</width>
   <height>465</height>
</image>
<image>
   <url>image/pic2.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>465</width>
   <height>700</height>
</image>
<image>
   <url>image/pic3.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>700</width>
   <height>465</height>
</image>
<image>
   <url>image/pic4.jpg</url>
   <caption></caption>
   <width>465</width>
   <height>700</height>
</image>

I have 700 * 465 for landscape images and 465 * 700 for portrait images. Now when I add 50 pictures I have to go through each line adding the correct width and height for the images. This is taking forever. Is there any way to make this so when I put a landscape it resizes the image to 700 * 465 and for portrait images 465 * 700 ? Or in general resizes the image without dissorting to my DIVS size which is 774px * 475px ??

If I remove    <width>465</width>   <height>700</height> It messes up the gallery..

Please help !  hmm  sad

Re: Help with image resizes..

The <width> and <height> tags must be used for each image in the gallery.
If you were to create your gallery using an automated method such as with the Photoshop or Picasa templates, the entire XML file would be generated for you (including the <width> and <height> tags being filled in correctly).
This would save you having to entering these tags manually in a plain text editor (by typing or copying and pasting).
The Photoshop and Picasa tempates (and others) for AutoViewer can be found here: http://simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/support/#start

Thanks. I have installed Photoshop plugin but the problem is my gallery is running inside a div and I'm finding it difficult.

Thanks anyways  big_smile

Re: Help with image resizes..

Rather than create your gallery and then embed it in your other page (inside your <div>) by following these instructions, you may find it easier to upload your entire gallery folder (not just the contents) to your web server and embed it in your page using an <iframe> (a single line of code) whose 'src' attribute points towards the 'index.html' file inside the gallery folder, eg:

<iframe src="http://www.example.com/galleryfolder/index.html" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

I tried the PS plugin, It's a bit confusing on how I'm going to automate the build. It's not very sophisticated !

Re: Help with image resizes..

How do I avoid autoviewer plugin from writing Captions in my XML file when I ran through PS ?  smile

Thanks

I steven,

This is a very good idea !

Only problem I'm having is when I add the path I have to give the FULL URL

http://www.example.com/galleryfolder/index.html

I want to give only like /galleryfolder/index.html  but its not working..

Change line 508 in the 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Presets\Scripts\airtight_interactive\AutoViewer.jsx' file from:

"   <caption>" + app.activeDocument.name + "</caption>" + "\n" +

.. to:

"   <caption></caption>" + "\n" +

I'm assuming this is a path issue. Any idea why ?

Yes. The paths to the images within the gallery's XML file are incorrect.
If creating a gallery in Photoshop and keeping the gallery folder intact, this should not happen when simply opening the gallery's HTML index page (which is essentially what the <iframe> is doing).
If you continue to experience difficulties, please post the URL to your gallery so that we can take a look.

Re: Help with image resizes..

Thank you Steven, I'm going to try and fix the Captions,

My only problem is having to add the full url of the gallery into iframe to make it work.

full url including the website address

http://www.example.com/galleryfolder/index.html

I want to give only like below ? but its not working without a full url. Is there any way to do this ?

<iframe src="/test2/galleryfolder/index.html" width="774"

Not like this.

<iframe src="http://www.mysite.co.uk/test2/galleryfolder/index.html" width="774"

Thank you for your help. Very good support.

Re: Help with image resizes..

Hello, I have solved the path issue. It was my bad, trying a wrong URL. Sorry.

Now only thing I want to know is,

1. How to remove the image numbers in the AutoViewer.jsx   (like 1/20 at the top right)
2. How to remove "autoviewer" banner at the bottom right corner.

I have purchased the pro version. Does replacing the autoviewer.swf in the AutoViewer.jsx directory with the pro version autoviewer.swf will do the trick ? I have edited few classes using Flash to customize some settings, like autoplay etc.

Thanks.

Re: Help with image resizes..

1. How to remove the image numbers in the AutoViewer.jsx   (like 1/20 at the top right)

This can be done by setting the Pro Option showImageNumbers to 'false' in the Options.as file before re-publishing the SWF file with Adobe Flash and then using this SWF file in the Photoshop template folder.
Please see here for all 'AutoViewer Configuration Options': http://simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/support/options.html
Please see here for instructions on 'Customizing ActionScript Options': http://simpleviewer.net/autoviewer/pro/ … #asoptions

2. How to remove "autoviewer" banner at the bottom right corner.

This can be done by replacing the 'autoviewer.swf' file in the Photoshop template folder with the SWF file from the AutoViewer-Pro download package (or your customized SWF file as in 1. above).

Does replacing the autoviewer.swf in the AutoViewer.jsx directory with the pro version autoviewer.swf will do the trick ?

Yes. This will work for 2. above.

Re: Help with image resizes..

I have edited the Classes and made the settings and recompiled the autoviewer.swf.

Replaced it in the Photoshop extension path.

All done and works perfectly !

Bravo.. Thanks Steven  big_smile  yikes
