Topic: SV2.20 and iWeb -Safari vs IE & Chrome

I seem to have a strage issue. I built a slideshow and uploaded it to my server. I accessed it with Safari and it works perfectly, I then tried to access with Chrome & IE and the SS works fine with the  exception that it is postage stamp size. I have the SS inside of an iFrame, using a scr= call and a set window size. I have the SS set for 100% size and as I mentioned this works fine in Safari. I have tried uploading the gallery to my site outside the website folder, inside in its own folder, and inside without a folder (gallery folders and files placed in the website root) all of these options work in Safari, but the ONLY way I get anything in IE or Chrome is in the last configuration and then its very small, but works as intended. Is there a setting I am missing? or does SV just not work from within a iFrame. I used both a generic iFram embed tag (for local echo from within iWeb) and the Embed code generated by SV, both worked the same just no local echo from the SV code as it assumes a root url.

PS- Just checked Firefox for OSX and it works fine also.... so, 2 out of 4

Gallery Address is  http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/Home.html

Re: SV2.20 and iWeb -Safari vs IE & Chrome

I have viewed your gallery in IE9, Firefox 7.0.1, Chrome 14 and Safari 5.1 on my PC and it looks fine in all browsers (not 'postage stamp size' as you describe).

does SV just not work from within a iFrame

SimpleViewer works fine within an <iframe> (with the exception of the 'fullscreen' and 'open image' buttons being disabled in the Mobile Player).

Your <iframe> line itself currently looks like this:

<iframe src="http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/gallery.html" height=560px width=433px></iframe>

Try changing it to:

<iframe src="http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/gallery.html" height="560" width="433"></iframe>

Also, rather than inserting just an <iframe> into your page, iWeb seems to be inserting a complete web page (with <html>, <head> and <body> tags as well as the <iframe> tag) via a JavaScript widget. This may have an effect on how browsers render the page.
If possible, try changing the contents of http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/Home_files/widget0_markup.html from:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><title></title></head><body><iframe src="http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/gallery.html" height=560px width=433px></iframe></body></html>

... to just the following:

<iframe src="http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/gallery.html" height="560" width="433"></iframe>

Re: SV2.20 and iWeb -Safari vs IE & Chrome

Thanks for the info, I have made the changes you suggested but nothing has changed. The mobil player works fine, as does Safari & Firefox, but I still can't get Chrome & IE8 (running on a virtual machine on my MAC) to work correctly. You can see a screen shot of the Chrome page here. http://idisk.mac.com/silverxrider/Public/chrome.jpg But as long as it is looking OK for everyone else that works for me.

Re: SV2.20 and iWeb -Safari vs IE & Chrome

Your <iframe> code currently looks like this and is missing some quotes around the width and height attributes.

<iframe src="http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/gallery.html" height=560 width=433"></iframe>

Change it to this (though it may not solve your initial problem.):

<iframe src="http://home.comcast.net/~gigglefiction/SRP/gallery.html" height="560" width="433"></iframe>

Re: SV2.20 and iWeb -Safari vs IE & Chrome

Thanks for the suggestions, but I still have that small frame size in IE8 & Chrome, at least locally, I will check it out from a couple of other computers external to my network and see what it looks like. I can't figure why it would work in Safari (html5) and Firefox but not Chrome. I am not to surprised with IE as it is not 100% html5 compliant.

Re: SV2.20 and iWeb -Safari vs IE & Chrome

Please try uploading your gallery page to a web server before testing it. There are some issues when viewing web pages locally on certain browsers that may make your gallery look odd. Also, remember to clear your browser cache every time you make an update.

I rebuilt the website in Rapidweaver (switching from iWeb as Apple will drop support for it) and dropped the iframe code into a html stack and the site now looks fine in all 3 browsers, must have been something in iWeb causing the issue. thanks for the help.
