Topic: Galleries not displaying

I think I have followed all of the instructions in the manuals and cut and pasted from answers in this forum, but I cannot seem to get a gallery to work properly. Can you please point me in the right direction? I must be missing some steps.

Using the Pro Version 2, and trying to make a non-Flash gallery show up in Wordpress. One test is here, and was made with the wp-simpleviewer:  www.bytesizedesign.com/New/portfolio  All that shows is the xml not found. But the xml file is in fact being written, and is located in the wp-content/uploads file with the same id (14.xml) as shown in the page: [simpleviewer gallery_id="14"]

Then, on a different page, I tried to embed a gallery created with svBuilder into an iframe, copying the iframe code from this forum. It is supposed to be an Auto Play gallery with no thumbs, and set to loop. What shows is the row of thumbnails, which when clicked, produces a manual gallery only - www.bytesizedesign.com/New  Do you need to see the gallery.xml for this? (If so, please tell me how to upload.)

I also tried to cut and paste from the Using BaseUrl article, and that produced a large black square (since deleted), again telling me the xml can't be found. And clearing the browser caches doesn't seem to help, either.

Where am I going wrong? THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help.

Trying to open the XML file (http://bytesizedesign.com/New/wp-content/uploads/14.xml) directly in a browser results in an error 404 (file not found).
Make sure that your 'wp-content/uploads/' folder has been given write permissions (777) using an FTP program.

It is supposed to be an Auto Play gallery with no thumbs, and set to loop.

The Mobile Player does not support AutoPlay options. AutoPlay can be used only with Flash galleries.

Re: Galleries not displaying

THANK YOU so much for your help.

The original file permissions were set to 775. It did make a difference changing to 777. HOWEVER - in re-doing the gallery (now up to 16.xml at http://bytesizedesign.com/New/wp-conten … ds/16.xml) - even though the entire uploads folder has been given 777 permissions, the new 16.xml file came in with 600.  Is this normal behavior, and is there any fix? I was hoping to use wp-simpleviewer on sites where the person making the gallery would not have FTP privileges.

Next question - what am I doing wrong that there is no large image displaying on top of the thumbnails? (www.bytesizedesign.com/New/portfolio) I did choose one as the 'featured' image, (and I have tried it without that option as welll) but neither seems to make any difference. Again - not adding any Pro features, just using the wp-simpleviewer application, set to either Compact or Modern.

The Mobile Player does not support AutoPlay options. AutoPlay can be used only with Flash galleries.

Really too bad about this - any upgrades in the works to address this one?

Again - thank you.

WP-SimpleViewer should be able to operate correctly as long as the 'wp-content/uploads/' folder has been given full access permissions (777) and your gallery now seems to function fine.

Next question - what am I doing wrong that there is no large image displaying on top of the thumbnails?

The Mobile Player does not display thumbnails alongside a main image.
The thumbnails are presented on a separate page from which a main image is selected and then displayed in place of the thumbnails.
Please see these FAQs regarding the layout differences between the Mobile and Flash Players:

Not that I am aware of. However, please post feature requests in this thread so that they are not overlooked. Thank you.
For reference, the configuration options available for the Mobile Player can be found here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … tml#mobile
