Topic: Creating Index Page of Thumbnails

I wonder if somebody could help me. I need to create an index page of thumbnails. I basically need a grid of thumbnails (before the user reaches the main gallery page), with each thumbnail linking to the relative image in the Simple Viewer Gallery ( like the mobile version but with the thumbnails still on show below the main image). I appreciate that this is not a supported feature of SimpleViewer, but perhaps somebody could be good enough to give me some guidlines as to how this might be achieved. My knowledge of php and javascript is very limited.

Many thanks,

Isaac

Re: Creating Index Page of Thumbnails

You could perhaps create a grid of thumbnails manually using HTML and have each thumbnail link directly to a unique image within a gallery using direct linking as documented in the 'Direct Linking and Back Button Support' section of the 'SimpleViewer-Pro API' page: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … tml#direct
As an example, the code for a thumbnail (on your manually generated HTML page) which would link to the second image in a gallery might look something like:

<a href="http://www.example.com/gallery/#2"><img src="thumb2.jpg" width="75" height="75" alt="thumb2" /></a>

Re: Creating Index Page of Thumbnails

Thanks Stephen. Would it be possible to use the images in the gallery as the custom thumbnails. I really need the custom thumbnails to update as the gallery is updated with new images. Is that possible at all ? Many thanks for your help.

Re: Creating Index Page of Thumbnails

Hi Steven,

Thanks again for your help. I have almost achieved what I was setting out to achieve. The only thing I am struggling with, is opening the thumbs in the parent window (rather than a new window). I wonder if you might take a look at the page and possiblly suggest a method to open the links in the same window. I am unable to use the target attribute, as the coding is in PHP, a language which I know little about - hence my dilema. Many thanks again !
