Topic: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi

I thought I'd posted a query on this already but couldn't find it anywhere so forgive if this is already being dealt with...

My website is: http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home.html I have a simpleviewer pro 2.2 gallery on every page.

I have Simpleviewer Pro 2.2, Macbookpro using browsers Safari and Firefox and an iPhone on 5.0.1 on a Wifi connection. The galleries work perfect on the Macbookpro on a wifi connection but none of the galleries are showing when I load the site on the iphone. I have cleared history cookies and data on the phone and reloaded but still no galleries and I get 6 javascript errors:

JavaScript: Error on Line 1
unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_files/...

JavaScript: Error on Line 1

I hope someone can offer me some help with this... Its probably something I'm doing!

Thanks Tamsin

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Your <iframe> code on the page: http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM//Home_files … arkup.html
... has a stray ".
Change:

<iframe id="widget1-frame" src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html"
" frameborder="0" style="width:900px; height:633px" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

... to:

<iframe id="widget1-frame" src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html" frameborder="0" style="width: 900px; height: 633px" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>

Also, being that you are embedding your gallery into an <iframe>, set the dimensions of your <iframe> as necessary and then set the dimensions of your gallery itself to 100% x 100% (so that it fills the <iframe> no matter what its size).
In the page: http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWE … index.html
... change:

simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '900', '633', 'transparent', true);

... to:

simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', 'transparent', true);

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi Steven

I've changed all of what you suggested changed the gallery to 1005x1005 in SVM and the <iframe> code with the stray: " , corrected the <iframe> size, re-published, both the SVP gallery and then the iwebsite, cleared iphone safari history, cookies and data before bringing up the page on my iphone. But I'm still getting the same errors and no gallery showing at all? Sorry but could you have another look and see if there is anything else I'm missing please? Thank you so much! Tamsin

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Your widget/HTML snippet at http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_files/ … arkup.html is a complete web page (with <html>, <head> and <body> tags.
Try using only the <iframe> code on its own

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi Steven

Thanks you for your reply. I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean? I've tried loading the published gallery (published to my mobileme) which is  http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWE … index.html to my iphone and it works in a mobile format.

I also changed the iFrame in the web page to : <iframe src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html" width="900" height="633" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> with the SVP 2.2 gallery customised to 100%x100%  but this still doesn't show when it's placed on the webpage: http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home.html published to idisk via ftp nor when I set up a new blank site: http://www.tamsinmae.com/site/Blank.html. published from iweb direct to mobileme.

It seems like an iframe ios5 issue? What do you think?

Thanks

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Sorry the 'Blank' page is here: http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Blank.html

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Your iWeb page seems to be loading the contents of http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Blank_files … arkup.html
... into your main page http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Blank.html

However, the contents of http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Blank_files … arkup.html
... are as follows:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><title></title></head><body><iframe src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html" width="900" height="633" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe></body></html>

It is a complete web page, rather than just the <iframe> code.
Try to have only the following as the contents of the 'widget0_markup.html' file:

<iframe src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html" width="900" height="633" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi Steven

Thank you for pointing that out but when I add the html widget in iWeb I am only adding the iframe code:
<iframe src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html" width="900" height="633" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

I don't know how it becomes:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><title></title></head><body><iframe src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Homepage/index.html" width="900" height="633" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe></body></html>

I am publishing from iweb to a local folder and them using iWebSEO to add meta data etc... and then publishing from there.

I have found however, that the galleries work on my new iPad2 !!?!? The way they should - in 'mobile mode' yet still not on the iPhone no error or anything just black space... I'm not sure what I can do from here really?

Thanks

If your galleries now work on your iPad, then they should also (in theory) work on your iPhone.
You may already have tried this recently but try clearing your Mobile Safari browser's cache on your iPhone before reloading the galleries, just in case it now displays as it should.
For reference (and others reading this post), instructions for 'Embedding with iWeb' can be found here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … .html#iweb

I notice when validating your 'home.html' page with the W3C Markup Validation Service that there is an error on the page (Line 80, Column 246: end tag for "map" which is not finished).
I do not know if this is the cause of the problem but it would be wise to fix this error anyway.
A web page that validates correctly is more likely to be displayed with greater consistency across different browsers.

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi Steven

I've managed to find the reason for those errors that were being picked up by W3C Markup Validation Service and now 99% of my pages are Green and clear!

So I cleared my history, cookies and cache on Mobile Safari browser's on my iPhone but still I can not see any of the SVP 2.2 galleries on my iphone, I don't know about other smart phones. What else can I try now?

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

The <iframe> code on the page http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_files/ … arkup.html still has a stray "
Make sure all the HTML pages with <iframe> tags validate correctly.

Also, you could try loading a different web page (such as 'http://www.example.com/' into your <iframe> other than your gallery's HTML index page.
If the web page is not displayed, then the problem is with your iWeb page rather than with SimpleViewer itself.

Also, if iWeb insists on turning your <iframe> code into a complete web page, then you could try downloading the 'widget markup' page, edit it in a plain text editor to remove all but the <iframe> code and then re-upload the file to the original location using an FTP program such as Filezilla.

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi Steven

I've now (I believe) found the additional stray " on all on my pages... I also did what you suggested and created a page with a www.example.com iFrame.

http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_2.html

This page DOES show on the iPhone with ios 5!!!!

I then went on to create further fresh basic pages with your example iFrame code as shown previously as in your http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … .html#iweb page and I found further iFrame codes which were more stripped back in the hope they may work with SVP 2.2 from iWeb and on iPhone. And also made up from scartch NEW SVP 2.2 TEST galleries thinking that maybe the galleries I had created were corrupt in some way.

Unfortunately none of the combinations are working even after clearing history, cookies and cache on the iPhone prior to uploading the pages:

http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_2.html

http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_3.html

http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Blank.html

http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Blank_2.html

What can I do next?  I know you said try editing outside of iWeb and upload via ftp but that really isn't an option as it will be additional steps to what should be a simple web site. Extra work flow and all.

Thanks

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

It's absolutely strange - I'm having the same problem!
My website's gallerys (www.lichtreize.com) don't show up on an iPhone with iOS 5.0.1 (4 and 4s tested, wifi and mobile).
The strangest thing is that it'll work well on my iPad 2 with iOS 5.0.1.
My homepage is a simple iWeb-site with iFrames.
Note: the iPhones will show the gallerys when I directly open the gallery-url (for example: www.lichtreize.com/fashion/index.html)
Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi DrFred

My situation is very frustrating especially knowing how many people surf the web on their iPhones. But I've checked out your site and I can see your galleries: http://www.lichtreize.com/LichtReize-Ph … shion.html & http://www.lichtreize.com/LichtReize-Ph … rotik.html on my iphone 3gs on ios5 wifi ... They are thumbnails and expand to full image when you click on an image... Are these the ones you mean?

Nice work by the way!

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hello Tamsin!

Thank you!
It's getting more confusing ;-)

Does it work when you visit my page and then click on the fashion or erotic-link in the top-menu or just when you directly open the link of the gallerys?

I don't have any ideas anymore for fixing this problem, so I've inserted a direct link in the bottom of the two gallery-pages as a workaround for visitors who can't see the images.

Greetings
Holger

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hi Holger

I got to see your galleries from your web page button/links on the main navigation! All works fine on my old 3gs! Sad mine doesn't work hmm

What do you see when you hit the navigation then?

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

On my site? Nothing appears... :-(

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

You probably have already but have you gone into your Safari settings on your iphone and cleared the history and the cache / cookies and then typed in to the web browser your site address and looked? Have you tried it on an ipad? Mine oddly works on an ipad?!?!? ;(

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

YES on your site when I go to the navigation: People/Fashion & Erotik I SEE all of your galleries they work on my iphone 3gs!  big_smile

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hmmm it seems like the problem does only appear on iPhone 4 and 4s. I've tested it also on iOS 4.2 (iPhone 4) and there is also nothing so see.

Cache and history cleaned (for hundred times) :-)

Please send me a link, then I'll test in on my iPad - there are so many links in this topic ;-)

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Yes I thought you would have cleared... as I have too... getting rather boring doing that testing it every time.

My website is http://www.tamsinmae.com or to go straight to the 1st gallery that doesn't show on my iphone 3gs io5:  http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home.html

My website DOES work on my ipad2 - the galleries show in 'mobile' format as they 'should'.
cheers Holger!

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Yes, iPad works - iPhone 4 not . . . same problem :-(

Maybe we shall drink a lot tomorrow, then eventually it works new year...

Nice pictures by the way!

Re: Simplerviewer Pro 2.2 in iFrame not working in iPhone 5.0.1

Hahaha that sounds link a good idea! Fingers crossed!!

Cheers thank you  smile

I realise you do not want to go down this route permanently due to the extra work flow but could you perhaps try this once just to see if it works?
ie. replace the entire <iframe> page at http://www.tamsinmae.com/TM/Home_files/ … arkup.html

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

</body></html>

... with just the <iframe> code:

<iframe id="widget1-frame" src="http://web.me.com/tamsinmae/SIMPLEVIEWER/Banner SVP/index.html" frameborder="0" width="130" height="93" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>

... manually using a plain text editor and FTP program.
