Topic: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

I know the Gallery XML not found message is a common issue and I've looked through the posts for an answer but still have not found one that works for me- so I'm finally breaking down and posting the problem.

I have four different galleries, embedded on four different pages and all four open fine in Chrome and IE.  But I receive the message "Gallery XML not found" message on my Droid and in Firefox.

I've designed the site in Weebly, using the custom html feature to embed the script.  I have created a mygallery folder, with sub folders for each gallery in my domain's public_html folder and the appropriate gallery.xml is located in each gallery's folder.  The permissions for each folder is set to 777.

Once the galleries are working on all browsers I'll connect the domain to the weebly site will only use charleswish.com- but right now I've been testing and working on the site and previewing through the weebly name charleswish.weebly.com

Here's the code  for the gallery found at http://charleswish.weebly.com/paintings.html:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://charleswish.com/mygallery/paintings-recent/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://charleswish.com/mygallery/paintings-recent/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

I can get the iframe code to open on any browser  as seen here http://charleswish.weebly.com/test.html- but it's not the format I want to use so it's not a viable option.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!!!!!

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

The gallery displays OK using the Flash Player in Firefox 8.0.1 on my PC but the Mobile Player displays 'Gallery XML Not Found' due to a cross domain issue. The gallery is hosted at charleswish.weebly.com but the embedding code refers to files hosted on www.charleswish.com. Ensure that everything is on the same domain for the gallery to function correctly.

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

I have published the site using the domain charleswish.com and now the galleries do not show at all- in any browser and there is no message- just a blank screen.

In order for weebly to direct to my domain I had to create two A records with weebly's ip address.

The galleries are still located in in my domain's public_html folder.

Not sure of where to go from here to get the galleries working again.

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

charleswish.com is different to www.charleswish.com (www.charleswish.com being a subdomain of charleswish.com).
Your gallery currently uses charleswish.com in the embedding code but visiting charleswish.com in a browser redirects to www.charleswish.com.
Try changing all instances of charleswish.com to www.charleswish.com in the embedding code.

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

I'm having no luck -- I've changed all instances of charleswish.com to www.charleswish.com in the embedding code and I've also created and uploaded the following crossdomain.xml as suggested in the FAQ link:

<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policySYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cros … policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="www.charleswish.com" />
</cross-domain-policy>

I'm still getting a blank screen in the weebly editor and the published site.

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

Your gallery at http://www.charleswish.com/galleries.html has the following code:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.charleswish.com/mygallery/paintings-recent/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>

However, going directly to this location in a browser results in an error 404 (file not found).
Make sure that your gallery's 'svcore' file has been uploaded to the correct location.
Also, your gallery uses:

flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.charleswish.com/mygallery/paintings-recent/";

... so the gallery's XML file should be named 'gallery.xml' and should be locate in the 'paintings-recent/' folder.
However, it does not seem to be there.

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

My files have been uploaded to the root directory of charleswish.com.

My gallery.xml file is named gallery.xml and alll of the svcore files are in the proper folder.

In order to use my domain name with weebly I had to create two A records that point to weebly's ip address-- so would the creation of these records make folders hosted on my domain out of reach?

I'm very frustrated and trying to get this to work but it seems weebly has limited the access to my own domain.  I have an email into their support team.

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

Your gallery currently uses the following lines:

<script type="text/javascript" src="www.charleswish.com/mygallery/paintings-recent/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
flashvars.baseURL = "www.charleswish.com/mygallery/paintings-recent/";

The URLs should be preceeded with 'http://' but anyway, try using relative URLs instead:

<script type="text/javascript" src="mygallery/paintings-recent/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
flashvars.baseURL = "mygallery/paintings-recent/";

Re: FireFox and Droid receiving Gallery XML not found message

After contacting support at weebly and calling my web host I was getting nowhere except more frustrated. It was determined that with the A records pointing to weebly's IP address I would not be able to access my files.

I thought I might have to rebuild the entire site -- instead I downloaded all of my files from weebly (via Settings--> Archive/Un-publish).

I then uploaded them to my public_html directory.  Now my entire site functions and  there is no url or DNS pointing.

Future editing will take a couple of extra steps, since I won't be able to publish directly to my site,  but I'm ok with that because all of my other work has not gone to waste.

Thank you for your help.  I reached out to quite a few support channels and you were the most helpful and responsive.
