Topic: How to align centrally on a page?

I have this

    <script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
    simpleviewer.ready(function () {
        simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '80%', '80%', 'transparent', true);

But note the simple view is over to the left, how can I get it to be centered on the page without setting the width to 100% as I want it 80% width.

I've tried putting in in a <div> with align="center" and in a table cell with align center but its ALWAYS aligned left on the page and it's driven me nuts!
