Hello, i see a few people here has has had issues with embedding. I have no knowledge of HTMl - i want to create  a photo gallery to add to my website. I use website bulding software that converts all into HTML directly to my server. Usually when i embed html on my website it converst the codes automatically but the gallery i created simply won't show up nor does it show on my external blogs. Can anyone kindly shed some light on this? Would really appreciate any help.

Re: Embedding Issues

I am having similar issues but am completely green when it comes to computer coding.  This is the embedding code I received from the simpleviewer after imputing my photos.

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "000000", true);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

but when I add it to my website nothing sticks.  I have a "Gallery" tab on the website I would like it linked to but am unsure of how to proceed.  my url is annies-cakes.com if that helps? Grateful for any help I can get!

Re: Embedding Issues

@AnneBurk

With the embedding code as it currently is in your '/pages/Gallery.htm' file, you would need to copy all the files and subfolders from within your gallery folder to the '/pages/' folder on your web server (step #2 from here).

Re: Embedding Issues

ok so step 2 reads" Copy the entire contents of your SimpleViewer gallery folder into the folder that contains your HTML page."

That is something different than pasting the embedded code provided in the publish section correct?

Then...this is probably a stupid question but how/where to I copy the entire contents from?

Thanks for the direction so far

Yes. As well as pasting the embedding code into your HTML page, you must also upload the gallery files to your web server in order for them to be publicly accessible by visitors to your web site who view your gallery online.

Then...this is probably a stupid question but how/where to I copy the entire contents from?

If you create your gallery with svBuilder or svBuilder-Pro, then the gallery files will be in folder specified by the 'Gallery Folder' text field on the 'Publish' tab.
If you do not use svBuilder or svBuilder-Pro, then the files (and folders) that you should be looking for are the following:

gallery.xml (file)
svcore (folder)
images (folder)
thumbs (folder)

The gallery folder will also contain a further file named 'index.html'. However, if you plan to embed your gallery in an existing page using embedding code as you do (rather than simply link to the gallery on its own page), then you do not need to copy this file.

Files can be uploaded to your web server using an FTP program such as Filezilla (as long as your web host allows you to use FTP).

Re: Embedding Issues

I did use the sv builder to create the gallery but after spending this weekend trying to input code I really don't understand I was wondering if there is someone available after 5pm EST that I can speak with to walk me through setup of the gallery onto my website?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide telephone support. Our support is carried out via email and this forum.

Perhaps the easiest way to embed a gallery is to use the baseURL method described here: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … l#external (as it does not involve moving or having to rename any files within the gallery folder).

Essentially, you would:
(1) Create a gallery using svBuilder: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … svbuilder/
(2) Upload the complete gallery folder (not just the contents) to your web server
(3) Paste the following code into your existing HTML page where you would like the gallery to appear

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.example.com/mygallery/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.example.com/mygallery/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "222222", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Change the two instances of http://www.example.com/mygallery/ above to the URL for your own gallery folder.
If you continue to experience difficulties, please post the URL to your web page/gallery so that we can take a look and help further.

Re: Embedding Issues

I am having problems embedding a gallery into my website which is through share point designer 2007.  Our web support person told me it was an incomplete code.  help!

Re: Embedding Issues

@andreaw

Instructions for embedding a SimpleViewer gallery in a web page can be found here.
If you follow the instructions, your gallery should display OK.

If you want to keep your gallery in its own folder on your web server, then you should follow the baseURL method of embedding as documented here.
