Topic: Need help from 1.4 to 2.3

Hello Everyone,

i setup a WP site in 2010 with WP2.7 and SV 1.4. This was working fine for the last 2 years. However i´d like to make my page useable for iOS devices so i upgraded WP to 3.3.1. Now SV is installed in the version of 1.4 for my old galerys and 2.3.0 for the new ones.

However i couldnt figure out in the last days how the hell i can create new gallerys and place them on my site like the ones from Version 1.4

i was used to upload a file with pictures i want to have in a gallery by FTP, then go to the SV-WP plugin, set the settings, make the gallery and afterwards include it by ading them into the post.

with 2.3.0 i first dont see how to make the gallery, were i have to put the files with the pictures etc... i then started to use your svBuilder with works fine but where do i have to place the new folger generates with the svBuilder and how do i then integrate it to a new post? i find the new button for "Add SimpleViewer Gallery" but i dont see where i can choose my pictures, in the file i uploaded to "wp-content/photos/gallery XYZ" or i dont find how to add the gallery folder i created with svBuilder.

Further if i click on the new occured simple viewer button on my menu i just se that:

Gallery Id     Last Modified     Post title     Gallery title     Edit     Delete
Gallery Id     Last Modified     Post title     Gallery title     Edit     Delete

i guess this is because i dont have any new gallery so far on my page...

with this post, i hope i will get some easy to understand explanations... from your FAQ and support page on simpleview web page i couldnt find some explanantion i understood... i have no idea about programming and my HTML knowledge is absolutely limited so i hope somebody can explain it to me like to a 6 year old girl smile if you know what i mean...

Thanks for your support!
Max

to get an idea of how i use your plug in its maybe usefull to take a look at my site. Its www.worldwidemax.de

Re: Need help from 1.4 to 2.3

With WP-SimpleViewer v2.3.0, there is no need to upload the images via FTP.
The images are uploaded into WordPress's Media Library via the WordPress's web interface.
Once you have clicked 'Add SimpleViewer Gallery', configured the gallery options and the shortcode has been entered into the post, click on the 'Add Media' button to the right of the words 'Upload/Insert' (below the post's title and above the 'Visual/HTML' toolbar). You can now follow the instructions from step #3 onwards in the section entitled 'Adding Images From WordPress Media Library' on this page: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … er/#create
(I will update the instructions to reflect the fact that WordPress v3.3.0 changed the wording of its button from 'Add an Image' to 'Add Media'.)

As an alternative to using WP-SimpleViewer, you could (as you suggest) use svBuilder to create your gallery.
(1) Create your gallery with svBuilder
(2) Upload the entire gallery folder (not just the contents) to your web server. It does not matter where the folder goes as long as you know where it is.
(3) Embed the gallery in a post by using one of the two methods described here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … l#external

If your web domain name is www.example.com, your gallery folder is called 'mygallery' and you uploaded the gallery folder to the root of your web space, the embedding code you would use in the body of your post would be as follows:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.example.com/mygallery/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.example.com/mygallery/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Re: Need help from 1.4 to 2.3

Thank you for the discription... i now was able to add the gallery with this code:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/2.0/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/2.0/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

If i now take a look into the post itself (http://max.dmpb.de/blog/?p=512) the post will look ok, like i was creating it with svBuilder. but if i go to the direct overview of my blog (http://max.dmpb.de/blog/), i will find a different gallery with different pictures from an old SV plugin... how can that be?

Re: Need help from 1.4 to 2.3

The embedding code for your other galleries on the same page (on the overview page) also uses the variable 'flashvars'.
Try changing the variable name in your new embedding code to something different, like 'flashvars1':

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/2.0/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars1 = {};
flashvars1.baseURL = "http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/2.0/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true, flashvars1);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Thank you! should work now!

Re: Need help from 1.4 to 2.3

Dear Board...

i have the same problem than descibed above again...

i have created a galery and if i look at it in the single page i see the right galery. on the overview i see a old galery instead of the new one. the nuber after the "flashvars" is different...

The code of the "new" galery is :

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/Manaus/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars544 = {};
flashvars544.baseURL = "http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/Manaus/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "650", "650", "transparent", true, flashvars544);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

the code of the "old" is:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/Bocas_del_Torro2012/HTML5/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars492 = {};
flashvars492.baseURL = "http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/phot … 012/HTML5/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "650", "650", "transparent", true, flashvars492);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

any idea or advise to solve this problem?

Re: Need help from 1.4 to 2.3

If both galleries are embedded on the same page, then you should load each gallery into a <div> with a unique 'id'.
Old gallery:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/Bocas_del_Torro2012/HTML5/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars492 = {};
flashvars492.baseURL = "http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/phot … 012/HTML5/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container1", "650", "650", "transparent", true, flashvars492);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container1"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

New gallery:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/Manaus/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars544 = {};
flashvars544.baseURL = "http://max.dmpb.de/blog/wp-content/photos/Manaus/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container2", "650", "650", "transparent", true, flashvars544);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container2"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->
