Topic: Create template?

Hi - we would like to create a standard sv pro template to use with the wp plugin.
It would have the fixed layout option to position the elements where we want them.

What's the easiest way to go about this?

Thanks

Re: Create template?

You could use a presetURL to point to an XML file which contains configuration options (to determine the layout of the gallery) but does not contain a list of images (which would be handled by the regular galleryURL XML file.
For more information on Presets, please see these pages:
http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … ml#presets
http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … o/#presets

In order to use a Preset with WP-SimpleViewer v2.3.0:
(1) Create a Preset XML file manually or with svBuilder-Pro (via the 'Options -> Save Preset...' option from the application's drop-down menu at the top).
(2) Upload the Preset XML file to your web server
(3) Include the necessary code within WP-SimpleViewer's files in order for the Preset to be used for all galleries.
Open up WP-SimpleViewer's 'wp-simpleviewer.php' file in a plain text editor and add the following code on line 849 (below the entry for the galleryURL).

flashvars$gallery_id.presetURL="http://www.example.com/preset/preset.xml";

... changing the URL to point to the Preset XML file you uplaoded to your web server in Step #2.

Re: Create template?

Awesome Steven - I'll give it a go now smile

Re: Create template?

Just saved a layout in the builder, but can't find any presets xml files to upload to wp??

Never mind - found it in the app data / roaming / sv / presets  smile

Re: Create template?

When you select 'Options -> Save Preset...' the pop up window gives you the choice to name your preset file as desired and save it in any location you wish.
The default location (on a Windows 7 system) is: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\svBuilder-Pro\Local Store\2.3.0\presets

Re: Create template?

Thanks Steven. Uploaded my preset as suggested, but now the galleries have stopped working. Says "SV requires javascript & the flash player - get flash"......   Reinstalled flash, but still the same message - any ideas what might have gone wrong?

Here's the line I added in the postition suggested:
flashvars.presetURL="http://chris-creative.co.uk/john richards/wp-content/uploads/JR.xml";

Re: Create template?

Sorry. 'flashvars' should be changed to 'flashvars$gallery_id' so your line should read:

flashvars$gallery_id.presetURL="http://chris-creative.co.uk/john richards/wp-content/uploads/JR.xml";

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. I have edited my original post to reflect the correct code.
Incidentally, your presetURL does not seem to exist at the location specified.

Re: Create template?

No inconvenience at all & thanks again for your help. You must have the patience of a saint  big_smile

(I'd moved the preset by the time you looked, thinking it might like its own preset directory away from the gallery xml's)......

I'll give the new code a go - WP really didn't like the old one, even stopped me logging in at one point  big_smile

Cheers

Re: Create template?

BINGO! that new line worked a treat - thanks!

Just a supplemental query... Will editing the gallery code in wp / sv settings have any effect now?

Anyway - thanks again

Re: Create template?

Will editing the gallery code in wp / sv settings have any effect now?

If you have any options that appear in both your gallery XML and your preset XML, the value from the preset XML will take precedence, overwriting the corresponding value in the gallery XML.
Therefore, if your preset XML contains any options which are represented by input fields in WP-SimpleViewer's interface, then these input fields would become redundant.

Re: Create template?

@evakdesign

Does your 'main_cs3.swf' file contain a SimpleViewer-Pro gallery? If not, then you are in the wrong place as these forums are for support for SimpleViewer. You would likely receive more specific help in a general Flash support forum.
If so, then you are in the wrong forum as your page does not seem to have anything to do with either WordPress or WP-SimpleViewer.
With regard to your code, check that your 'flashobject.js' file has been uploaded to the correct location on your web server. It does not appear to be in the correct location.
Also, FlashObject has been renamed (and updated) to SWFObject and I would recommend using SWFObject v2.2 to embed a SWF file.

Re: Create template?

@Lattechnology

To what CSS file are you referring?
Your post seems to have no relevance to this thread.
If you have a query regarding WP-SimpleViewer, please post a new thread and try to be more specific about your problem.
