Topic: can't embed in wp page or post) manually or with plugin

Hi
I am at my wits end, and have lost hours of my life. I have simple viewer on my old dreamweaver site, works a charm. Now I am doing a wp template site. I tried the wp plugin, but nothing works so finally I gave up on that, so I built 4 galleries, in 4 different folders, uploaded the complete folders to wp-content/uploads. Tried to embed one in a page, and nothing works, sometimes depending on the address I use I get xml not found but I think have tried all the directing combo options.
I can embed in a wp page right? Or do I have to embed in a post?-(I would rather not.) HELP!! thanks

Re: can't embed in wp page or post) manually or with plugin

I tried the wp plugin, but nothing works

WP-SimpleViewer (the dedicated plugin for SimpleViewer) has been fully tested with the current version of WordPress v3.5.1 and instructions for use can be found here.
If you encounter any problems with the plugin, please post them here so that I can investigate or help you.

I can embed in a wp page right? Or do I have to embed in a post?

Yes. You can manually embed a SimpleViewer gallery in a page or post (and WP-SimpleViewer also embeds galleries in both pages and posts).
If you have uploaded a complete gallery folder to your web server, then you can embed the gallery in a WordPress page using the baseURL method of embedding as documented here.
For example, if you have uploaded a gallery folder named 'gallery' to your 'wp-content/uploads/' directory, then you could enter the following embedding code into your WordPress page (ensuring that the method of entry is 'Text' rather than 'Visual'):

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.example.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/gallery/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.example.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/gallery/";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "600", "222222", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Just make sure the two paths within the embedding code are correct (change www.example.com to your own domain and you may not have a directory named 'wordpress').

Edit: Please note that the above refers to SimpleViewer v2.
Embedding a SimpleViewer v1 gallery into a WordPress page would be different.
The code you would use for a SimpleViewer v1 gallery would be:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.example.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/gallery/swfobject.js"></script>
<div id="flashcontent">SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.
<a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash.</a></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
var fo = new SWFObject("http://www.example.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/gallery/viewer.swf", "viewer", "100%", "600", "8", "#222222");
fo.write("flashcontent");
</script>

Re: can't embed in wp page or post) manually or with plugin

Thank you,...but .... sigh
The first text is what I had in the original html site. So I guess that is what I have . I have tried every variation on this base url address, ( both parts, the src and the base url) including the one you posted - again- this time I tried adding / wordpress/ as I hadn't before, but my wp-content is not in a wordpress folder, so that was of course useless. no matter what I do it says xml not found. It is in the folder created, I looked. I think it has to do with the word gallery??, my folder is not named gallery, the xml is, should I be naming the folder the same as the xml doc.? and what then if I make a folder for each page, they can't all be named gallery, right? so want to cry! have tried with html index and php index. I feel like I am out of options.
this is my text right now.:

<!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.tschurtschenthalerlodge.com/wp-content/uploads/Gallery Main Lodge/svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.baseURL = "http://www.tschurtschenthalerlodge.com/wp-content/uploads/Gallery Main Lodge";
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true, flashvars);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Thanks

Re: can't embed in wp page or post) manually or with plugin

Other than adding a trailing slash to your baseURL path, the code you posted above looks OK.
Please post the URL to the web page you are trying to embed the gallery into so that I can take a look and help further.

Thanks  so much, added the slash,  (didn't see that)  used your text again (so grateful to have a sure thing) played around some more, nothing, finally saw that the sv plugin was still activated, deactivated it- then got the little arrow boxes but no pic, set my things to 100% and 800 and somehow, something, somewhere clicked after 4 HOURS! and now I have a visual!!yay!! Thank you! so good to be able to ask someone, thanks again!
