Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

If you are a SimpleViewer-Pro user, please note that WP-SimpleViewer comes bundled with SimpleViewer-Standard and, after upgrading the plugin, you will need to upgrade it to use your SimpleViewer-Pro files by following the 'Upgrading to SimpleViewer-Pro' instructions here.
If you upgrade the plugin but do not upgrade the 'svcore' folder, then any Pro configuration options will not be applied to your galleries.
Please note that the new version of WP-SimpleViewer (v2.3.2.2) includes functionality whereby a Pro 'svcore' folder will not be overwritten when the plugin is next updated via the WordPress Dashboard.

the thumbnail sizes are wrong

It looks like the problem with the thumbnail sizes may be due to a CSS conflict between the CSS of the gallery and the CSS on your web page, generated by your current WordPress theme.
Try temporarily changing your WordPress theme (perhaps to a default theme such as Twenty Thirteen) to see if the problem with the thumbnail sizes goes away. If it does, then you may need to search through your theme's CSS code and look for any global CSS rules which might apply to <td> or <img> tags (which the gallery would inherit) and apply these rules only to elements on your web page which require them through use of id and classes.

the unwanted featured image is included and cannot be removed even unchecked in editing the gallery

I have just checked this functionality in WP-SimpleViewer v2.3.2.2 and it seems to be working fine.
Try clearing your browser's cache before reloading your gallery to see if this makes a difference.

please help ortell me how to restore back my last version

If you like, you can download v2.3.2.1 from the archive on this web page (direct link). Just delete the current WP-SimpleViewer files from your web server (using FTP), unzip the 'wp-simpleviewer.2.3.2.1.zip' file and upload the complete 'wp-simpleviewer' folder to your 'wp/wp-content/plugins/' directory.

the gallery theme is not the one i set as default

The Gallery Style for your 'purple-cowhide-shoulder-bag-3-2' gallery seems to be set to COMPACT and this is what is displayed.
Try editing your gallery ('SimpleViewer -> Manage Galleries -> Edit Gallery'), change the Gallery Style, click the 'Save' button and reload your gallery page. The easiest way to determine whether or not the new Gallery Style is taking effect is to check the main image navigation buttons. (Each Gallery Style has a different style of main image navigation buttons.)

also is there a way to delete multiple galleries?

No. Galleries can be deleted only one at a time from the Manage Galleries page.

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

hi steven, thx for the prompt and detailed reply, i did upgrade soon after i tried and decided to use simpleviewer for building my website, but being no IT person it's too complex to me so i develop  a way to use it till now, i am not capable to restore to the older version the FTP way

i manage to figure out some issues and find out that the forced insert of featured image is causing the thumbnail size problem

pls see the post i create to explain the situation and help further

http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2012/04/test/

PS making this post i find another issue but no influencing me yet:
the first 4 images in the gallery is not supposed to be included, the post is in a 5-row table, first row i build the gallery and the
4 images are insert to the 2nd to 5th row independantly, i try to insert a blank row between the gallery and the images, gallery unchanged, i type xxxxx into the blank row, unchanged, should i never place images behind the gallery?

thx again, ava

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

i manage to figure out some issues and find out that the forced insert of featured image is causing the thumbnail size problem
Choosing whether or not to include the featured image in a SimpleViewer gallery should not change the size of the thumbnails in the gallery. If you display the featured image, the only thing that changes is that there is an extra <image> entry in the gallery's XML file.

As I noted above, I think the problem is with your WordPress theme. In the Mobile Player (which your gallery uses), all thumbnails should be displayed as the same size regardless of their actual dimensions. The fact that your thumbnails are displayed at different sizes is more than likely to be caused by CSS rules within your WordPress theme overriding those within your SimpleViewer gallery.
Try temporarily changing your WordPress theme to a default theme, such as Twenty Thirteen (and clear your browser's cache before reloading your gallery's web page), to see if this makes a difference.

With regard to your test post, settings relating to the image source cannot be set as defaults. Only settings relating to the layout of the gallery can be set as defaults. When you create each individual gallery, default layout settings will be applied but you will need to chose the image source you wish to use (and any other image-source-related settings).

I have checked the functionality of the 'Include Featured Image' checkbox and it works OK for me.

Try the following:
(1) Create a sample gallery with WP-SimpleViewer and select the 'Include Featured Image' checkbox .
(2) Click the 'Add Media' button and attach two images to the post containing the gallery.
(3) Click 'Set Featured Image' (from the menu on the left) and select 'Uploaded to this post' from the drop-down menu.
(4) Highlight an image and click the 'Set featured image' button (at the bottom right of the media window).
(5) Publish the gallery.
You should see both images in the gallery.

Now do the same again (with a new test gallery) but this time, deselect the 'Include Featured Image' checkbox whilst creating the gallery in Step #1 above. You should see only one image in the gallery. The featured image should not be included. This works for me. I have just checked it.

the first 4 images in the gallery is not supposed to be included

In a 'Media Library' gallery, all images attached to the post containing the gallery will be displayed in the gallery. Only the featured image can be excluded.

the post is in a 5-row table, first row i build the gallery and the
4 images are insert to the 2nd to 5th row independantly

I am not sure what you mean by this.

i try to insert a blank row between the gallery and the images

It is not possible to insert space between the rows of images within a Mobile Player SimpleViewer gallery.

should i never place images behind the gallery?

It sounds like you might be clicking the 'Insert into post' button in the media window.
If you click the 'Insert into post' button, the images will be inserted into the post as well as included in the gallery.
All you need to do is attach the images to the post for them to be displayed in the gallery (wait for them to finish uploading and then close the media window with the cross at the top-right).

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

thx for the feedback, now the issue of forced to include featured image is fixed, but the non-uniform thumbnail size problem remains, the theme i use have a default of 200x300, wth the "crop images to exact size"option checked

some problem galleries after upgrade:
http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2014/05/w … -tote-bag/
http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2014/05/a … accessory/
http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2014/04/lv-monogram-rose/

perfect galleries before
http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2014/03/14215/
http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2013/08/b … iefcase-5/

i didn't change anything building these galleries, any idea? do you suggest me delete and reinstall the plugin? would it help?

about images in a gallery: do you mean i cannot have images out of the gallery but in the same post?

about defaults: do you mean "include feature image" and "image order" cannot be set as default values?

thank you for your patience

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

On further investigation, the problem with your thumbnail heights is caused by line 1215 (height: auto;) of your http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/wp-conten … /style.css file, in the following section:

#content img {
    margin: 0;
    height: auto;
    max-width:100%;
    -webkit-box-sizing:border-box;
    -moz-box-sizing:border-box;
    box-sizing:border-box;
}

These rules will apply to all <img> tags on your web page within the #content container, including those within your SimpleViewer Mobile Player gallery. The gallery has no option but to inherit such general rules. The rules should ideally be applied only to those elements on your web page which require them through use of ids and classes.
One way to protect against this would be to edit your 'wp-simpleviewer/svcore/css/simpleviewer.css' in a plain text editor and change line 349 from:

height:75px;

... to:

height: 75px !important;

Please note that the line number above refers to the current version of WP-SimpleViewer v2.3.2.2 which can be downloaded from this web page.

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

thanks for the instruction, it does restore the thumbnails to 75x75 but not proportionally,

http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2014/05/w … -tote-bag/
(the last 2 shortened)

http://al-leathercraft.com/wp/2014/05/b … n-handbag/
(first one prolonged)

what else can be done? or i will settle here

thanks for your help

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

In the SimpleViewer Mobile Player, all thumbnails are always 75px x 75px. They do not reflect the aspect ratios of the thumbnails images themselves. If the thumbnail images are not 75px x 75px, then they will be resized to fit within the 75px x 75px area.

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

I know that and cropping is ok but now the height is either stretched or shrunk

Re: lost default settings after upgrade to 2.3.2.2

I understand what you mean now.
If a thumbnail image is not square, then the Mobile Player will stretch the image to fill the 75px x 75px area.
This is different from the Flash Player (which crops the image to fit) and has been logged as a bug.
It should hopefully be fixed in the next version of SimpleViewer.
At the moment, the only workaround would be to ensure that all your gallery's thumbnail images are square (check the 'Thumbnail size' in 'WordPress Dashboard -> Settings -> Media').
