Topic: Gallery Not Found

Hi,

I'm getting the Gallery Not Found error, and can't figure out what's wrong.

URL:  http://www.mandolindesign.com/envision/engineering.php

DIRECTORY STRUCTURE (FOLDERS IN CAPS):
  WWW
  ...index.php
  ...engineering.php
  ...SIMPLEVIEWER
  ......swfobject.js
  ......ENGINEERING
  .........gallery.xml
  .........viewer.swf
  ..........IMAGES
  ...........THUMBS

RELEVANT PART OF ENGINEERING.PHP:

<script type="text/javascript" src="simpleviewer/swfobject.js"></script>

<div id="flashcontent">SimpleViewer requires Macromedia Flash. <a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Macromedia Flash.</a> If you have Flash installed, <a href="index.html?detectflash=false">click to view gallery</a></div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        var so = new SWFObject("simpleviewer/engineering/viewer.swf", "viewer", "100%", "100%", "8", "#D0E4ED");
        so.addParam( "wmode", "transparent" );
        so.write("flashcontent");
    </script>

NOTE:
Also in the engineering directory, there is index.html, which was generated when I recompiled (with no changes) the fla.  It works.

NOTE:
On my local webserver, I get the Gallery Not Found error.  Now that it's uploaded to the "real" server, the viewer doesn't even seem to be there in Firefox, and I still have the Gallery Not Found error in IE7.

Thanks.  Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your quick answer!

The xml file is in http://www.mandolindesign.com/envision/ … allery.xml

The URL you site doesn't exist (obviously), but why would the swf be looking there?

Re: Gallery Not Found

<simpleviewerGallery maxImageWidth="439" maxImageHeight="329" textColor="0xFFFFFF" frameColor="0xffffff" frameWidth="10" stagePadding="20" thumbnailColumns="1" thumbnailRows="4" navPosition="left" title="Engineering" enableRightClickOpen="true" backgroundImagePath="">

somehow, you have lost the paths for thumbs and images in the xml

Re: Gallery Not Found

I put the images and thumb paths back in, and blank.  I've tried everything I can think of in those paths:  empty strings, folder names (relative path), absolute path.  Nothing works.

Re: Gallery Not Found

ck your permission settings in images and thumbs, try 777 for now

Re: Gallery Not Found

ck your permission settings in images and thumbs, try 777 for now

Changed permissions on both folders from 775 to 777, no luck.  Any more ideas?  I really appreciate all your help.

Thanks.

Re: Gallery Not Found

I'm still getting a "forbidden"
on this page where your images are
http://www.mandolindesign.com/envision/ … ng/images/

The reason you get a "forbidden" error is because indexing is turned off, and there is no index.html file.  All that's in those directories is images.  This URL works:  http://www.mandolindesign.com/envision/ … ering1.jpg

Re: Gallery Not Found

Any more ideas?  I really need this thing to work.  In fact, I need to set up 9 more just like this one!

Re: Gallery Not Found

No, sorry, I don't have any more ideas. It should work.

I can look at your set up tonight ( in about 8 hrs) if you want. Pm me your pswd and user name and I'll look at it via ftp or zip everything and e mail it to me. see ur pm

Re: Gallery Not Found

When you see the 'Gallery Not Found' message, that means SimpleViewer can't find the gallery.xml file. SimpleViewer expects the XML file to be in the same folder as the SWF and to be called 'gallery.xml'.

http://www.mandolindesign.com/envision/gallery.xml does not exist

Re: Gallery Not Found

I'm getting the Gallery Not Found error too, but I only get it in IE 6. It loads fine in Safari, and Firefox on the Mac. On the PC, it loads in Firefox, but not IE6.

I'm using SimpleViewer Pro here:
http://www.socialwave.net/gallery/user/ … um_viewer/

My "gallery.xml" file is not located in the same location. It's located elsewhere, but the only program that has a problem with this is IE. I had SimpleViewer Pro 1.7 previously and I just upgraded to 1.8. I don't think I had this problem with 1.7, but its possilbe there was a problem that I never noticed.

Re: Gallery Not Found

try using swfobject.js to load Simpleviewer

in IE , view source , I only get -

Re: Gallery Not Found

Thanks Ho, unfortunately after switching to swfobject.js. I'm not getting anything at all in IE now. I get a blank black screen. It still works in Firefox on a PC and works on Safari/Firefox on a Mac.

I previously had SV Pro 1.7 starter code to invoke the player, but I just now updated the code for the album page using the example index.html gallery page provided in my 1.8 download.

I did not make any change to my "gallery.xml" document. Is there a change in how the XML file should be formatted?

Re: Gallery Not Found

BTW, I just realized that I had the same problem with SimpleViewer Pro 1.7. My gallery had been busted for IE6 users for quite some time. I just never noticed it.

Re: Gallery Not Found

I get a white page in IE

what is your file structure? I can't find your viewer.swf or your gallery.xml

Re: Gallery Not Found

You should be getting a black page actually. It may have been white because I was doing some on the fly tweaking to see if I could get it to work with different paths or viewer.swf files.

Check it again and view source. The file structure should be in the source. I must have been trying out a few things when you checked.

Re: Gallery Not Found

now i get a 404 error in IE

where is your viewer.swf and your gallery.xml?  I can't see your file structure viewing your source.

here is the source of the IE page from a few minutes ago, nothing to do with simpleviewer  smile

Re: Gallery Not Found

That's weird. I'm not seeing that page in IE.

Are you accessing the following page?
http://socialwave.net/gallery/user/313/album_viewer/

Here's what you should be getting:

Re: Gallery Not Found

BTW, path to viewer:
http://www.socialwave.net/Library/galle … viewer.swf

Path to "gallery.xml":
http://www.socialwave.net/feeds/_gallery/album_313.xml

Re: Gallery Not Found

when i go here
http://www.socialwave.net/Library/galle … viewer.swf
i get gallery not found

Gallery.xml and viewer.swf should be in the same directory.

Re: Gallery Not Found

That doesn't seem to jive with the documentation. See #2.6 of the Simpleviewer Pro documentation:
http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simp … ation.html

The XML file and the viewer.swf file do not have to be in the same directory. I keep seeing people post that bit of misleading info.

I've got the paths defined to the "gallery.xml" file and the "viewer.swf" file as specified. I have them defined as URLs. Perhaps they should be defined as actual server paths... but it works fine in other browsers so I'm not sure if that's the issue either.

Re: Gallery Not Found

Nope, switching over to the server paths didn't help either.

Re: Gallery Not Found

Your right  - I should have said it is easier if they are in the same folder. As your view.swf is not finding your gallery.xml, that means the path in the fla is not correct. It needs to point to the gallery.xml where ever it is. If your local set up is the same as your server set up, you should be able to use your local index.html for testing.
