Topic: Only one image showing

Hello,

I just tried to set up simple viewer for the first time manually and cannot figure out why I am having a problem. I followed the manual instructions carefully and used notepad to do my adjustments to the xml document. My page only shows the first image as both a thumbnail and a full photo but no other thumbs or images show up. Also, no caption shows up with the image. The page is currently at www.jleary.com/rhum/.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Jim

Post the code. Also, it would be easier if you use Google Picasa to create the XML file, afterward just open it in notepad to edit the directory location if needed.

Re: Only one image showing

I tried to see if another image would work by changing its name to pic1.jpg and the new image did indeed show up but again it was only the one image. What am I doing that is preventing anything else from appearing?

Thanks again for your time.

Jim

Re: Only one image showing

Hey Smile! It finally works. I think I had a minor text issue that held me up at the end but it's working now. Thanks very much for taking the time to reply and offer your code. Now I can just use the working file as a template for other pages in the future. Thanks again.

Re: Only one image showing

I don't see anywhere on the viewer page a link to leave the page and go somewhere else. I would need to provide a link that would allow my visitors to go on to the rest of the website. How is the coding done for that?

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Only one image showing

Hi,

You have an error in your image data file;

http://www.jleary.com/rhum/imageData.xml

If you want to format the caption use all the code shown in the faq:

Mine works:

                Water Cascade

Re: Only one image showing

Smile,

Your coding and subsequent explanation flew over me like a high flying speeding plane. I have spent time with html but never php and little with css so I haven't a clue what you mean. If its not a simple text line in the code somewhere that can provide a link then perhaps I can set up the gallery link as a new window and speaking of that I have little experience with javascript. I used to be into the html and then web design expanded so quickly I got lost in the shuffle.

So, basically, I'm looking for an easy (laymen's) way of adding a text link into the code for the Flash gallery page or just make my gallery link a separate window that the user can close when done and have the previous page still open behind. Can you assist me with that code? Thanks again for all your time.

Re: Only one image showing

Jim,

I've added an example page showing how to embed SimpleViewer inside a HTML page, allowing room for a header and footer, where you can place your back link. Please check the FAQ, Q9: http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simp … r/faq.html
