Topic: Background Options?

Hello.  I was wondering if anyone knew how I can either make the PostcardViewer background transparent, or have an image as the background.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Re: Background Options?

yes - you can do this. it's done in the source of the html (index) file.
under the line that says

new FlashObject

put this line:

fo.addParam("wmode", "transparent");

you can see an example of a test I did here:

You can copy my html source and use it if you want - but note that the background source in mine is a "php" extension... so you probably know to change this to whatever background you are using.

Mine is a php because it loads a random background every time the page is refreshed.... but that's another tutorial altogether...

good luck.

Hey thanks so much.  That really helped me out!

It seems that someone who checks this message board took this as an invitation to steal my bandwidth.
I've had to temporarily turn off my random backgrounds and turn his site into a big advertisment for my site.
How "temporarily".... well I guess that depends on how long it takes him to stop linking to my images...

Re: Background Options?

evrything worked out for the best.
I sent him a nice email & provided him with all of the files and instructions on how to set it up - now he's hosting it himself...

Re: Background Options?

I also need to change the background so that it is transparant.  However, I went to change the code on the index.html file and there doesn't seem to be a new FlashObject line anywhere.  This may have changed since the last post was made with these instructions.

Can anyone help me, i'm using the latest version and have also purchased the paid for version.

Ideally i'd like a logo in the background and have tried amending the swf.  I can get the image to display but whenever I resize the browser windo the image stays in the same place.  Is there a way for the image to automatically centre within the swf whenever a browser window is resized?  I've had a play around for what seems like an eternity but cannot achieve this.

Please bear in mind that my flash/html skills are pretty limited so any help or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.
Alexis

Re: Background Options?

I've since found out how to achieve what I was looking to do and found the answers at the following 2 sites

Hope this helps someone out.

Re: Background Options?

did you know that the controls dont work in FF when using the transparent Background option?

any suggestions

Re: Background Options?

I have been able to change the background using the free version of Postcard Viewer (thank you for the tip), but not in the Pro version, using the same specs. What am I missing here?
