Topic: Use .swf in SimpleViewer 1.8

Am I missing something here? This FAQ says the following:

23: Will SimpleViewer load things other than JPG images?

SimpleViewer can load JPGs and SWFs. Any other file types (.gifs, videos etc) are not supported. SWFs are loaded in the same way as JPGs, just add the SWF filename to gallery.xml

So here's an excerpt of my XML code:

.....
    <image>
        <name>DSCF0253.swf</name>
        <caption>DSCF0253.swf</caption>
    </image>
.....

Shouldn't this work?

What it does is just shoe a little box. Clicking on it does nothing?

I must have something simple wrong? Can anyone help me out?

That should work. Do you have a swf file called DSCF0253.swf in your images directory?

Yes. I have the Flash file posted and working:

http://www.clubredswing.com/photoGaller … F0253.swfv

Here'e the gallery homepage:

Any ideas?

I think you'll be able to look at the XML file as well.

Re: Use .swf in SimpleViewer 1.8

Hey,

I checked out your site and the swf file, and I noticed it's size. It's like 2.2mb and that might be bogging down the whole thing. Most of the jpgs for the images on SV run well at a size under 1.5mb and the thumbs work well under 500kb. Maybe reducing the final size(bytes) of the file would solve the problem. Your XML file looks fine, no coding errors I could detect. Have you thought about updating to SV 1-8? Not sure if this helps, but reply back if there's anything else I can help with.

Re: Use .swf in SimpleViewer 1.8

The reason you see a little box instead of a thumbnail is that there is no thumbnail file. SV is looking for a file called http://www.clubredswing.com/photoGaller … CF0253.swf

Try adding a small swf in this location.

Re: Use .swf in SimpleViewer 1.8

Thanks. I'll do as you say and post back when I have a second. I didn't realize there was a size restriction so I'll try to get it under 15 megs and see if that helps.
