Topic: Starting from scratch

I am almost bald from pulling my hair out...I am not a developer, and wish I had known what was involved before I bought this. The files I downloaded with Pro, can someone tell me which folders need to be in the root directory of an html page? Is it the source and web folders? Can you not change the names of these folders or file names either? B/C I am wondering how to put 3 seperate galleries in the root directory at the same time?

Here is the root folder of the site I am trying to do for my friend. The 3 red folders (life, movement, vision) are the 3 gallery folders. In each are the source and web folders. Do I have these placed correctly? And what files do I need to specify these paths in? Vision is the html page I am working on trying to get the gallery to work. It worked when I dumped everything in the root folder, but b/c I have 3 galleries I needed to seperate them with folders outside of the root directory.

Re: Starting from scratch

For a gallery you need everything inside the 'web' folder.

So in your root folder, make 3 copies of the web folder and name them with your gallery names. Then put the correct XML, images and thumbs in each gallery folder.

Re: Starting from scratch

So I have 3 folders now in the root folder. "vision", "movement", and "life".

In each of those 3 folders I have what you see here in the "vision" folder.

[img]http://seasonsofwhite.com/vision.jpg[/img]

And this is the html I have for the "vision.html" page...

<div>
<div id="flashcontent">
SimpleViewer requires Macromedia Flash.
<a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">
Get Macromedia Flash.</a> If you have Flash installed,
<a href="index.html?detectflash=false">click to view gallery</a></div>

<script type="text/javascript">
var fo = new SWFObject("viewer.swf", "viewer",
"100%", "680", "7", "#898989");
fo.write("flashcontent");
</script>
</div>

Now what? Still getting the flash needed message.

Re: Starting from scratch

Here is the link to the vision page. I put the swfobject.js in the root folder and it got rid of the flash warning, but now has gallery not found.

Anyone please help.

Re: Starting from scratch

Felix,
Could you please help me out with this?

Re: Starting from scratch

anyone?????????

Re: Starting from scratch

OK,
I offered Felix a paypal payment to help me resolve this...no answer. Anyone else?

Re: Starting from scratch

Wow,
It was as simple as putting the vision.html in the vision folder. Amazing you couldn't help me with that.

Re: Starting from scratch

Not really that amazing. I don't magically know everything about how a user may have his files setup. I can answer SimpleViewer specific questions, but once a user starts to create his own unique HTML setup, my guess is a good as the next guys.

Glad you got your problem fixed!

Sorry for the venting of frustration. I know you are not sitting on this forum and all day waiting to answer people and have a job, I was just getting PO'd that noone would help. My apologies.
