Topic: Thumbnail Problems :-(

In one of my galleries SimpleViewer will display the actual images fine, however X's appear where the thumbnails should be. This is only the case once the gallery has been uploaded to my server (it displays perfectly when I preview in browser from the local file). All other SimpleViewer galleries that I have uploaded to my server work fine -- it is only this one that is having problems. That being the case, I contacted the company who hosts my site and they have assured me that there are no directory problems on the server and the problem lies within the SimpleViewer files. I have tried rebuilding the gallery under another name and the same problem incurred. Can anyone help?

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

The forum will not let me post the actual link seeing how i have not yet been a member for 5 days... so you will need to piece it together. (sorry)   w w w dot leahrhianne dot com backslash valentine backslash index dot html

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

it works here. I guess you fixed it. Clear your browser cache to see the latest files.

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

I'm seeing only two Xs (the top left and bottom right in the second set of pics) for both thumbs and large versions (in FF and IE).  If you've checked the jpg extension, it could be because these two images were saved as "progressive" in your editing program.  No: 3 on the FAQ page www dot airtightinteractive dot com/simpleviewer/faq.html refers.

[I use PS Elements and find I have to check the "Save as box" carefully because it sometimes defaults to this setting and it caused me a problem when I first started putting my gallery together]

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

In case anybody else runs into this problem, although my filenames were lowercase, I noticed that the file extensions (.jpg) were caps. I have no idea how that happened seeing how they were imported from my camera the same way as my other pictures, but changing them to lowercase and recreating the gallery seemed to fix the problem.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

Certain applications including PS I believe default to upper case file extensions. Typically web file servers are case sensitive. Running a multi file script could have changed your file extensions to upper case.

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

Do you know of anyway to prevent that in the future?

Re: Thumbnail Problems :-(

I know there is a check box in the save as options in PS for upper or lower case extensions. Otherwise I couldn't say. It's just something people need to keep an eye on.
