Topic: Why is it so hard to have a transparent background?

I've check long and hard many post about this issue...
I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

My code:

<body bgcolor="#FF9999">
  <div id="flashcontent">Flash needed</div>
  <script type="text/javascript">
    var fo = new SWFObject&#40;"viewer.swf", "viewer", "100%", "550", "7"&#41;;
    fo.addVariable&#40;"preloaderColor", "0xFFFFFF"&#41;;
    fo.addVariable&#40;"xmlDataPath", "gallery.xml"&#41;;
    fo.addParam&#40;"wmode", "tranparent"&#41;;
    fo.write&#40;"flashcontent"&#41;;
  </script>
</body>

I have some pink in the body's background color, so that when I finally get it right, I will know it wink

I don't understand why this is so hard to get right...
wmode is ok, no bg color on my div, no bg color in the object creation's parameters, and no backgroundImagePath in my gallery's attributes.

Anyone can shed some light on this?
