Topic: Waiting for response...

Since yesterday, simpleviewer won't work.

When I upload images, it gets to 100% and then Status changes to Waiting for response...
It never actually gets outs of this. I haven't changed anything in the settings. I use both Mozilla and IE7, never had that problem. Already created 10 galleries, and uploaded lots of images.

When trying to add image to new or existing gallery, it would simply freeze at 100% of uploading.

Any ideas what's wrong with it? I have plenty of space on the server. No changes were done to it

Re: Waiting for response...

Update:

Checked files on server and spotted the following:
- New galleries are created fine.
- After unsuccessful uploading, images are actually uploaded, but NO thumbnails created and no change to XML file. So it means yr script is not working properly, or there is a bug there

I really look forward to get it going. I have half of the gallery completed. It would really frustrate me if I have to switch to another gallery after wasting so much time tweaking it and fine-tuning.
Please help me out here

Re: Waiting for response...

It looks like the java applet is waiting for a response from your server and is not getting it. Maybe your server hosts have changed something? Might be worth asking if they changed anything relating to file uploads.

Do you still get the problem when you try to upload a really small file – recent versions of svManager allow you to upload gifs so you could try a 1pixel gif. By the way, what version of svManager are you running (as on the Admin screen)?

Do you have access to the detailed server logs? Are there any error messages in there at the time you were trying to upload?

I've never seen this one before so any additional information you can provide might be helpful.

Re: Waiting for response...

Another thought. How about setting-up a new test version of svManager alongside your working version in a different folder. It would be useful to know if you get the same problem with a new installation. It might be a good idea to download a fresh copy of svManager from the Airtight web site – you can use the same link that you were given when you bought it.

Re: Waiting for response...

Hi Jack

I just reloaded the version that I purchased initially. The problem persists.
I contacted the server customer support. They assured me no changes were made within the last 30 days. 3 days ago SVmanager worked fine.

Don't know how to check current version. It only says © 2007, 2008 Airtight Interactive on Admin page.

Small files neither work. It looks like the server allows images to be uploaded but stops the script from executing further. I have 777 permissions everywhere. A few days ago everything was fine.

Is there a limit on number of galleries, files, folders or character length that you are aware of?

I will try to download a fresh copy and replace the old one as you suggested.

Also could you let me know how to set up a second gallery with different folder name? Is it difficult to do?

Thanks

Re: Waiting for response...

Installed new gallery. Can even create a gallery now

Keep getting this: Error cannot find gallery folder (svgallery.php, line 94)

All permissions set to 777

Re: Waiting for response...

Deleted everything. Played for two hours with permissions and finally got it working with a new version.

If I click delete button, nothing happens. But Unlist works fine. I can delete manually the whole folder after clicking it, which is what I want.

The only thing that nags me - is that there are now about 10 folders which can't be deleted. They don't appear in the gallery and can't be deleted from the server.

But at least, I could finally finish my gallery:)

Re: Waiting for response...

You seem to be having a lot of permissions issues. Are you sure that your server has php safe mode set to OFF? This is a basic requirement for running svManager. If you are not sure how to check then download the free server compatibility test from Airtight Interactive and install it on your server.

Re: Waiting for response...

Yeah,

I turned off SAFE MODE when I installed my first gallery.

Now it does what it is expected to do except deleting the gallery.
Unlist works fine. I have 777 for folder mode, 664 for file and upload more (it wouldn't work otherwise).

I like the new version, especially caption feature. Will survive with what I have at the moment.

Any suggestions how to get rid of redundant folders?

Thanks
